Here's your chance to bring up any matters that seem somewhat further afield, and to introduce  yourself to the group.

Bernard and all -- this site for the Robert Zemeckls's Beowulf movie has this director's conception of Mead Hall (Heorot) under "Special Features."

Some clip I saw says the DVD of this film, apparently originally produced in 2007, will be available February 26.  I don't know if that is just a new Blue Ray version.  Or maybe it was even 2/26/2008???  The clips suggest this is a version that is as much Hollywood as the original classic, but I haven't seen it and can't compare at this point.

I've seen it. About half Beowulf.. a little less. A very light Hollywood take. Aporxamite to the turning the Illiad into Troy, and then animating the edges off.

On the film, I had the following to say in my lecture/performance of a couple of years ago:

"The one thing the film teaches us is that Grendel's mom was hot!"  Though it takes liberties with the material, and makes a big assumption on the nature of evil as presented in the work, it does a good job with the Mead Hall, I think and the look of a medieval world (not shiny Camelot, but grimy Excalibur).

I also found the treatment of the scop performing in the hall to be illuminating -- I once had to do some storytelling in a busy mall, complete with people always on the move, and lots of background noise -- so when I saw this film, I felt the scop's pain.
