Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: Welcomes and Introductions

This is a personal message to you, Starla....I just must say I love your name...I then must say that I have a beautiful daughter who shares your name.  Her birth mother gave her that special name before we adopted her when she was six months old.  We added Dawn as a middle name.  I want to say welcome to this ARC but I guess I had better hold off on that since I still have no confirmation of my inclusion in this lucky group of readers...in any case you enjoy and have fun!! Re: Welcomes and Introductions

Hi all....I just received my PM for First Look and am so excited to be participating in the book club. I am a first-timer and look forward to reading and discussing O'Nan's novel. I haven't read anything by him yet. I am an avid reader; enjoying everything from Paulo Coelho to Jodi Picoult. My husband (to be on Sat.)and I live in the beautiful Ocean State of Rhode Island. We have the best beaches for sun, sand, swimming, and books! Since I am a teacher, the June start for this club is perfect timing; can't wait to start the summer discussing books that are other than an intermediate elementary reading level!

Cheers ~

Thank you. I think Dawn is a great middle name, mine is Michelle. I hope you get your confirmation soon. Good luck!

My name is Debbi and this is the 2nd time I have enrolled in First Look.  I really enjoyed The Sister, and am looking forward to reading this next book, (hopefully I will be one of "the chosen")
I love reading the reviews and opinions of everyone and enjoy being a part of B&N's book club.
This promises to be a great story...

Re: Welcomes and Introductions

Karen,

I have never participated in a book club before and I do not know the procedures.  How do I get the book, how often are posts expected, etc.  Would you please give me more information?

Thank,

Hi everyone, and welcome to the First Look book club for Stewart O'Nan's Songs for the Missing. I'm Karen, your moderator, and I'm thrilled to be back for another First Look!

Why don't you all use this space to introduce yourselves and get to know each other?

Hi All,
This will be my second First Look Book Club. It is fun (and exciting) to get to read a book before anyone else! I am looking forward to this one. My biggest challenge is to not read ahead!

Re: Welcomes and Introductions

Hi, all!
This is my second First Look. I did The Sister. I thoroughly enjoyed that book, and am looking forward to Songs. . . .  I didn't get to participate much in The Sister discussion due to 2 funerals(!!).  Here's to me getting more involved this time *raising glass*

Re: Welcomes and Introductions

HI Everyone!

My name is Amy and I'm from Rhode Island.  This is the first time that I've actually signed up in time for the book club.  I'm excited and I look forward to reading and discussing this book with all of you.  I got my notice that said my Arc would be mailed next month so, I'm thrilled and ready to go!  I am not new to reviewing though.  I review for a couple of sites on line and I thought it would be really fun to get the opinions of others reading the same book!

Thank you for having me and I can't wait to "meet" you all!

Enjoy!
