Re: Are you in?

Oh! yes, I am in also. Took me awhile because I wasn't in the first club. And this time when I signed up I forgot to put my zip code on to my address so it even took longer. Of course that is just me, dizzy as ever! Hellow to everyone here!

Instructions: Donna - Finding posts

[ Edited ]

dg wrote:
I'm in but I seem to be having some trouble following the messages. I will figure this out before the book discussion but is there a simple way to find responses to messages that you post? I've gotten emails that I have responses but the link takes me to the general discussion area and I'm not finding all of the responses, although I have found some of them.

I don't usually have such a struggle with message boards I've used but they were always limited to a dozen or so members so maybe it's just the volume.

Thanks for you help and, if you respond and I don't get back to you it's probably because I haven't cracked the code of finding these messages yet but I'm happy to be involved and I'll keep trying.
Donna

Donna, if you get this message :smileyhappy:, try putting this discussion group [or thread] in your bookmarks....[Pull down thread options] then you can simply see at a glance, your personal view, if new posts have been created, and then you click it....it brings you right there. How you view your pages, depends on how you've set it up. Threaded works for me, with current posts showing first.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you take all of these NEW LITTLE FOLDERS: HEADER TOPICS, and use the arrow on the right side - click on it to float these folders to the top of this page. That way you can see at a glance what threads are open with new posts, or if the folder is closed, nothing new is there. You just click on the folder, and BINGO, the thread is open.....

BUT...There will be a lot of folders created in these discussions, and you definitely don't want one to slip down into another page. You'll have to hunt for it, then. The discussion will go for pages, believe me. It does take some time to figure out, but it will come easy with practice.
AND if you ever have problems, OR QUESTIONS, once the discussion starts: Just click on the moderator's name, or one of the editors, or administrators' names, and you will see [UNDER THEIR NAME] where you can send them a private message(as with any one of us)....I hope this helps.

Kathy S.

Re: Are you in?

Hi everyone-----I'm a retired elementary school librarian from New England. I usually substitute one or two days a week at any of the classroom grade levels or art, library or music. I am busy enjoying being a grandma including regular sitting duties(they'll grow up so fast and I'll wonder where these days went so I am grateful that they live near enough for me to have babysitting duties and enjoy their childhood!) I also enjoy reading, and making jewelry and my in-person Book Club with several friends. Painting and writing are on the back burner at this time because I'm so busy. I'm looking forward to discussing The House at Riverton with all of you here.

Hi, Librarian! Sounds like you're a busy woman!
May I ask?:
In what medium do you use to paint?
And.....materials for jewelry?

I share your passions,
Kathy S.

I'm Melissa (R-mod for the LbW board). This looks like a great book, so I hope I'll have more time to participate for this go-round :smileyhappy:

Re: Are you in?

Hi I'm Yvonne and I was in the last first book discussion and loved it. I love anything Australian, so I can't wait to read the book. It sounds very interesting.

Hi!!

I'm Lisa and a newcomer to the boards. I feel very lucky to have been chosen to be with you all so I promise to be a good contributer! I absolutely love to read though finding the time to satisfy this interest seems to be a constant challenge. I currently belong to a neighborhood bookclub that is filled with wonderful people but yet we never seem to talk about the books themselves too much. (!!!) It's a shame because previously I lived in Houston and was involved in a diverse reading group that could discuss a book for hours. The Houston based group was my first book club and I think I was spoiled because I always came home feeling very enriched with others' insights and thoughts. SOOOOOO, that's what led me here to these boards searching for others like me who wanted to just sit, talk and listen.

What brought you all here? I need to go back and read this thread from the beginning but I wanted to quickly say "Hello!" while I had the chance (before dinner, children fighting screaming over baths, homework and such....... :smileyhappy: )

Here's to a great new group of friends!
Lisa

Lisa, welcome to the world of books, discussions, and down to earth goings on.....
After the kids are fed and watered; and who or whatever else's needs are met, come and join the multitudes, who can entertain you on a daily basis, here on the Barnes and Nobles' Book Club! You want depth? It's here...take my word for it. I don't know how deep I can get, but I'm the spokes-person for mind bending. :smileyhappy: (or twisted, some might say - Kevin, I know you're reading this!)

I'm looking forward to your participation, whenever, and wherever, you can join in.

Re: Are you in?

Hi everyone,

I'm excited to be a part of this book discussion! I am an engineer at a small renewable energy company. I enjoy yoga, dancing esp belly dancing, cats (I won't tell you how many I have), and of course books! I am part of an in-person book club, but it's the type that gets side-tracked and tends to discuss everything but the book, so I look forward to some in-depth discussion about this book.

Missed the first one, but this looks like a great idea with the promise of a good read. I see some names I know from other groups, so this should be fun!

Hi Kathy S. ----I haven't had a chance to do much yet. And I'm not sure how good it is. But I use acrylic paint on canvas. My jewelry is very simple. Inexpensive bead and metal spacer type necklaces and bracelets. I started as a hobby together with one of my daughters. We did some craft shows. But she's exceeded me now. She's taken several classes in wirework, metal work, etc.----does seaglass jewelry and all kinds of sophisticated stuff and sells at juried craft shows. Mine is really just a simple hobby.

Hi Lindsay,

It took me awhile to figure out esp belly dancing. Was it some mind, body, telepathic dance? But then I realized you probably were saying especially belly dancing. :smileysurprised:

Anyway, welcome to the group.

Re: Are you in?

Hi! I'm Stacie and I'm so excited to be participating in this club for the first time. I'm a counselor who has been married for two years to a wonderful man who patiently endures all the bookshelves taking over our house :-) We have just purchased our first home so when we're not working and I'm not reading we're quite busy with home improvement projects. We have two cats who enjoy napping on me while I'm reading. Looking forward to the discussion and to reading this book.
