See the Kate Morton Video

[ Edited ]

We are thrilled to be able to share this video of Kate Morton with you. In it, she reveals how she was drawn to writing The House at Riverton.

One particular item of interest is the book jacket featured in the clip -- it’s of the British hardcover edition.

Enjoy!

Re: See the Kate Morton Video

Maria, I liked the video alot...it definitely gave some context as to what influenced Ms. Morton to want to write such a book as this...she was very animated and it was obvious she was excited about her work...I thought it was great that she set out to do what she wanted, which was to write a book that would suck the reader in, making them a part of the story, so that at the end it is all they could still think about...she definitely got me on that one...I didn't want to put it down and when I did, my mind was on it constantly, even while I was sleeping...
Peace and love,
Paula R.

Re: See the Kate Morton Video

I really enjoyed the video of Kate Morgan. She is a wonderful speaker as well as a fantastic writer. The character do "live and breathe" for me. I am in the middle of the book, House of Riverton. I will hate to leave Grace and her memories behind. I only hope Kate Morgan will write and publish another book very, very soon.

What a wonderful video. I really enjoyed seeing Kate and listening to the same excitement that I feel. I'm about half way through the book & am living the life. Wouldn't this make a great movie? She paints the picture in such a way that we actually feel that we are there. Thank you so much B&N for this great pleasure. If possible I would read this book in one sitting but alas life intrudes. Kate Morton you are a jewel keep the great books coming. You are tops on my author list now.

Re: See the Kate Morton Video

Fantastic video. I loved Kate's image of Grace laying ghosts to rest. Isn't that what many of us have to do at the end. This video gave me another wonderful insight on the book. Thanks for posting it. I also found the book cover for the British edition fascinating. It's a gate. I wouldn't have thought of that image, but having seen it, it fits.

Thanks so much for providing this video. I always enjoy hearing an author speak about their book, since it is so like a child to them. I can tell Kate was (and is) entirely passionate about Grace. Thank you Kate for this enjoyable book.

Re: See the Kate Morton Video

Finally finished reading the book. Loved listening to what Kate had to say about how she started her work. Also, I loved the references she left at the end of the book. Makes it easy for those of us who are interested also in this time period. Being an American it is sometimes difficult to know the right sources for this kind of historical info.

Re: See the Kate Morton Video

How cool to hear about her process in writing this story! So often we read novels and we don't know what the experience of writing them was like for the author. She definitely succeeded in creating a story that people can "disappear" into; putting the book down was sometimes like coming up for air after swimming underwater because the world of the novel felt so real that the "real" world almost felt disorienting!
