Welcome from the Moderator

Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself -- I'm Karen and I'll be your moderator for this book club. I also moderated the inaugural FIRST LOOK book club for The Monsters of Templeton, which was a really wonderful experience. We had a fantastic turn-out that lead to some great discussions. I'm looking forward to seeing some return FIRST LOOKers, as well as plenty of new faces, as we delve into The House at Riverton :smileyhappy:

I'm so glad you'll all be joining us and I can't wait to get started!

Re: Welcome from the Moderator

I'm really glad to see you back, Karen. I was very impressed with your moderation for the first FLBC. You really knew the book -- I can't imagine how many times you read it, but you had it down cold -- and your encouragement of the posters and insightful questions were wonderful spurs to a great discussion. I'm very happy to have the chance to discuss another book under your superb guidance.

Re: Welcome from the Moderator

Hi Karen, I am looking forward to the club. I live in Oklahoma and we have been devastated by ice storms. I just got my power back today after 5 1/2 days in the dark with temps in the 20s at night. I am hoping it doesnt affect getting my book, or christmas presents or meds for that matter that come in the mail. I am glad to be back among the living today but it is truly an post apocalyptic scene here, we lost over one MILLION trees. I am off to take care of all those things I couldnt do in the house for a week. But I am around and wanted to say hi to those I have missed this week. :smileywink:

Hi Karen,
I'm Debbie and I was also part of The Monsters of Templeton and it was such a unique way to review and discuss the book. I'm looking forward to this next read and it comes at such a great time with life after the holidays sometimes being a let down and often the weather (here anyway) keeping us in and looking for things to do with our time.
Can't wait to meet up with all you from last time and meet some new people too.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Re: Welcome from the Moderator

Karen, I was so glad to see that you will be our moderator again! This is looking like "Old Home Day" with so many returning members. I'm looking forward to meeting all of the newbies, too. And Vivian, I'm glad you have your power back; we up here in New York State have been seeing the Oklahoma ice storm devastation on the TV news and it looks really awful. I hope things will be back to normal for you soon.

Re: Welcome from the Moderator

Hi Karen, I'm happy to "meet" you. I am a newbie and just sent in my email, so hopefully will be in time to get in on the ARC. I didn't hear about First Look until after the first one closed. I live in Northern B.C. and really looking forward to being a member; great way to snuggle up in our northern winters!

Hi Karen, I'm glad to see you are back with this First Look book. You did an incredible job on The Monsters of Templeton.

Will we be following the same format of five chapters at a time? Last time I devoured the book as soon as it arrived and then had to be spoiler conscious as I posted. This time I'll "try" not to read ahead.

Hi Karen! I'm Nury from NY and I'm new. This is the very first time I become a member to a book club. I got the PM notice this Monday but I found out only yestarday. I'm very excited to be part of this book club. The book looks very interesting and I can't wait to start reading! :smileyhappy:

Tarri,

I did the same thing as you - devoured the last book. It is also my plan to try to read this one at a slower pace. It will hopefully make it easier for me to participate. Time will tell how I actually stick to my plan though!

Re: Welcome from the Moderator

Hello again. Welcome back & thank you for your return. I've joined a number of online book clubs & end up dropping out/losing interest. I love your division of chapters, themes & opinion sections. Keeps unwanted spoilers from popping up and lets everyone read & participate at their own speed.

I'm REALLY looking forward to this book!
