I'M IN !! I'M IN!!! I just feel like I won a main role in a play! Which I guess it is sorta like it. We all read our lines and add our own personal input into the story. Hello, I'm Lady_Graeye (Lisa) From Missouri. I choose this name many years ago from a wonderful book I read with the main character named "Lady Graeye" and I always could relate to her so I use it for many things. I am the mom of 5, who all have just about flew the coop. I love to read and write and never leave home without a book. I AM SOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS BOOK! I can't wait to get my hand on it. I like to read the ARC of a book and buy the actual store version and compare the two. That why my husband thinks I own too many books, he's wrong! Well it's nice to meet everyone and I ready to get this party started!!! Lady_Graeye

LOL! You're a hoot! Cracking me up, ok ok you got the part hehe. :smileywink: Now, whatcha gonna read until March? lol, there are plenty of clubs in here going on. And hi, nice to meet ya lol.

Oh yeah, I'm Ebony Angel, (Carolyn) from Missouri. I read everything and when I run out of stuff to read, I'll read the yellow pages.
So far from the excerpt it seems like it's going to be another good one.

EbonyAngel, I'm Lady_Graeye and I live in Missouri too, We'll have to find out where each other lives, who knows we might be close... Nice to meet you!

Well you Missourians, I am right down here in Oklahoma and got a friend up above you in Illinois. Grab a steamboat, well not that they come through Oklahoma, cause they dont lol.

Hi! I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My name is Heather and I live in Tennessee. I am a stay-at-home mom to two beautiful children, Connor and Brooke. I am an avid reader or as my husband likes to call it, "a book collector." I am busy with my two children and trying to finish my degree in psychology online. This will be my first book club and I hope it will be a blast. Maybe this will give me more motivation to finish some of the books I have started reading.

Welcome Heather. I live in Tennessee too. I actually live right outside of Memphis. Which end do you reside in?

Re: Welcomes & Introductions

Hi!
I'm Lauren. I'm a college student, and this is my first book club. I love, love, love reading. I'll dive into anything, but I really love mystery and memoirs. I started reading an advance reader's copy of The Sister while I was waiting in jury duty and loved it. I look forward to getting a copy soon (I'm crossing my fingers) and sharing thoughts and opinions with others!

Re: Welcomes & Introductions

Hi everybody--
My name is Sharla and I'm a newbie, too. I can't wait to read The Sister and then hear what others are saying. I've participated in book clubs for the past ten years and always have at least one book on my night stand. I'm a stay at home mom and former English teacher, so I guess reading is in my blood. Fortunately, my two kids seem to love it as well!
It's fun to read all the introductory posts...I'm really looking forward to the club. It's going to be a great way to spend a cold South Dakota winter.

Re: Welcomes & Introductions

WooHoo. I just got my message that I am in for this month's discussion. I read the excerpt and it sounds like it should be really good.
As for myself, I am a 25 yr old vet tech student who loves to read for pleasure. Right now I am reading the Poisonwood Bible (which I didn't love at first but is slowly starting to pickup). I love reading and discussing books with anyone who has read the same book as me. I live with my hubby, my pug, my cockatiel, and 2 cats so we have a full household.

Re: Welcomes & Introductions

Hey everyone,
I'm Tricia from Pennsylvania, I'm 19, probably one of the youngest ones here, but I love to read. I'll read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. This is the first online book club thing I have ever been a part of so I am looking forward to discussing this book with other people who love to read too. I hate when I read a book and then can't talk to anyone about it because not many people I know like to read and I'm one who likes to talk about things I've just read and see what other people got from the book. I think this will be a neat opportunity to see the different ways we all react from reading the same book. Looking forward to The Sister, the excerpt makes me want to know what happened in their past.

Hi Karen,
I'm new here as of today and I was wondering how the people are picked for the book The Sister. Does everyone get a copy that signed up or are people randomly picked with the luck of the draw.
Thankyou,
noannie

Welcome noannie!

That's correct; First Look enrollment is first come, first served.

We don't know how many copies are being made available here.

Karen, is that something you're authorized to tell us?

Nope - can't give out that info :smileyhappy:

I am a new member of the First Look Book Club and I look forward to reading "The Sister" with all of you. I live in central Texas and I have two teenagers. Although I'm an eclectic reader, historical fiction is my all-time favorite. I'm also enjoying the explosion of and access to books written by authors outside of the United States.

I recently finished Geraldine Brook's most recent book, "Book of the People"; it's a great read for historical fiction/mystery fans.

Re: Welcomes & Introductions

Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie:smileyhappy: I've been reading postings on this website for a while and just recently started to participate. Must have been serendipity - I was just trolling the various threads and came across this one, thought the idea of discussing an arc very appealing and was notified today that I'm in. I think this site is fascinating - I can finally connect with fellow readers. Looking forward to the exchange...tgem

Re: Welcomes & Introductions

Hello everyone -

My name is Beth and I live in Seattle. I have loved reading and books since my mother started reading me Charlotte's Web when I was three. I don't know that I have a favorite genre, I just enjoy reading. I am very excited for this opportunity. I used to belong to a book club and have missed being able to have a discussion about a book with other readers.

Looking forward to getting the book and beginning the discussion!

Welcome nm and west coast newbies. I just began reading People of the Book and find it fascinating. BN has a book club going for it, there's only about 7 people there and maybe you can check it out when you get a chance and share your thoughts. The cookies in the community room there are getting hard and some green fuzzy stuff is attaching itself to the tops of them. :smileywink:

Re: Welcomes & Introductions

Hi, everyone,

This is my first bookclub, and I'm looking forward to a great experience with our discussions of "The Sister". I live in Tampa, Florida, and am a stay-at-home mom to 2 active young boys. I used to be an avid reader, but after having kids, found myself seriously falling off the wagon. I embarrassed to say that I probably only read 2 or 3 books for the entire year in 2007. Oh well... I'm hoping to get back on the horse this year, so to speak, and really look forward to joining in with this book.
