Books about Autumn

What are your favorite children's books about the season of Autumn?  Hayrides, apple-picking, pumpkin carving, etc.  You name it!

Re: Books about Autumn

A lot of us go apple-picking this time of year.  Any favorite/good books out there on the subject that you'd care to share?

My oldest granddaughter and I picked this book out for Fall last year.  How could I resist a darling little redhead like my Rebekah?

Aw.  Thanks, harley.  I wonder just how many books get purchased for little grand-ones for just the reason you mention!  Ha.  :smileywink:

Re: Books about Autumn

LOL

I know that my mother bought a book or two for my oldest just because the main character was named "Gretchen".  My husband is convinced that retailers of childrens' goods know just how to market to grandparents.  But he's as big a sucker as I am.  He showed me a toddler sized shirt  that he just had to buy for the youngest.  It had a picture of a little boy pulling a wagon full of toys and it said "Going to Grandpa's".

I was a red headed kid. If the main character had red hair, my mom bought it.

I visited my granddaughters this weekend and here's some fun fall books that they got from the library.

Terrific, Nancy!  Thanks a bunch!

Over the weekend, I picked up some hickory nuts beneath a favorite tree.  I have no idea what I'll do with them yet because hickory nuts are notoriously "tough to crack."  You can crack them, sure, but the trick is how to crack them so more of the 'meat' comes out in bigger pieces and now crumbly bits mixed with crumbly bits of shell.  I'm wondering if there are any children's books out there about nuts--how to crack them, etc..  That would be a fun project to do with kids--collecting different kinds and figuring out uses for them.
