Kroy and Poulder, the sergeants in the armies, seem to not like each other. I am wondering if this is going to breathe trouble for trying to trap Bethod. I am thinking this could be a recipe for disaster in the future. I know Burr and West are going to put the Prince in the area where they feel is safe to prevent any harm to come to him. But I fear this will not work out well. Due to inexperience on the Princes behave, the Sergeants not getting along, and the wild card factor of just not knowing where Bethod is. The only thing in favor of the Prince is West and the five Northmen are with him.

Yeah, I am thinking these sergeants really need to pull their stuff together and work together but we know that will not happen! LOL!

I, too, fear that something is bound to come West's and the Princes way and maybe the only thing that will keep the Prince alive will either be one of the Northern men or West himself. The Prince seems to be lost in his own mind and is completely oblivious to what is going on around him.  The prince, I believe, will become a great hindrance to his army and West if the war does come their way.

I am going to have to come back monday and finish up my comments on your other two or three posts if that is okay? I have a busy weekend for easter and I got to get myself off to bed tonight! LOL! Great thoughts on this first part so far and I do have more to add on this first section so I will be back monday with more thoughts! :smileyhappy:

I think the bank and the Inquisition are in cahoots some how.  The Arch Lector and this Bank, or the owners of the bank are up to something.

Boy am I glad you take note of everything! LOL! What page does it talk about this bank I don't remember this scene. It may have been a part a fell asleep during when I was reading late in the night. LOL! Now you have me super interested, though, so if you know the page I would like to reread it. :smileyhappy:

I am curious who Zacharus is. He is mentioned on page 63, by Salamo Narba to Bayaz.

I am not sure who Zacharus is. I don’t remember if he was in the first book. Who is he to Bayaz, another magus?

Very interesting and I hope we get more background on him as well. I don't remember if was in the first book either, sorry. From this sentence you have here though Zacharus must be important somehow to be the magus' friend.

I really enjoy getting the history and background of the gods and rulers in this book so far. The Gods, the Old Empire, everything. Juven, Kanedias, and all the others.

I also really loved getting this background information. Definitely super important, too.

KC

Just a refresher, the box Bayaz is hiding is the box he took from the building they visited in book 1, correct? This is the seed that Ferro is to hold. Ferro is the only one who is to be able to hold it correct? I wonder what the seed is to do.

I think you are right about the box and Ferro being the only one able to hold it. I wonder why that is? Maybe because of her demon blood?

KC

I love how we learn that Ferro has the blood of the demon in here. I love the whole story telling from Bayaz here, page 105.

I am curious though, on a few things. Pg 111 with the explaining of the demon Euz and his sons who were half demon, but had powers.

Quai shrugged his bony shoulders and began to speak. “Almighty Euz, vanquisher of deomns, closer to gates, father of the World, had four sons, and to each he gave a gift. To his eldest, Juvens, he gave the talent of High Art, the skill to change the world with magic, tempered by knowledge. To his second son, Kanedias, went the gift of making, of shaping stone and metal to his own purposes. To his third son, Bedesh, Euz gave the skill of speaking with spirits and of making them do his bidding.” Quai gave a wide yawn, smacked his lips and blinked at the fire. “So were born the three pure disciplines of magic.”

“I thought he had four sons,” grumbled Luthar.

Quai’s eyes slid sideways. “So he did, and therein lies the root of the Empire’s destruction. Glustrod was the youngest son. To him should have gone the gift of communing with the Other Side. The secrets of summoning devils from the world below and binding them to one’s will. But such things were forbidden by the First Law, and so Euz gave nothing to his youngest son but his blessing, and we all know what those are worth. He taught the other three their share of his secrets and left, ordering his sons to bring order to the world.”

My question is… Is Logan Nine fingers of Demon blood as well? He has the ability to speak to the spirits.

I was thinking this same thing after I read this part. Yeah, he probably has demon blood and  must be a descendant of Bedesh.

KC

I am not sure which son Ferro is descendent from. Part of me thinks possibly the forth and youngest son. I think it was mentioned that she could pull from the other side. (But this could be for any who are from the blood of demon.)

So is it just the power Ferro has that is to let her touch the seed? Or can any descendent of the demon blood be able to touch the seed?

Good question and I guess we should move on to get the answer! LOL!  With this second book here we are getting a lot more information about what we are dealing with. I think this book is gonna get much better!

KC

I replied after each of your comments I felt I could add too hope it wasn't confusing that way. And I am ready to move on with the 2nd part whenever you are! :smileyhappy:
