Hello to everyone, I am new here and just learning the way around. My background, training and work experience are in science, but I was always writing on the side, and now retired, I write full time. The majority of my writing is fiction, or at least is taken to be fiction. My book "Starship To New Earth NOW" is considered by readers to be entirely fiction, though I consider its theory and suggested practice to be based on sound science fact.
Have a great day, and many sales to all.
Space Shuttle Atlantis. Not a Starship, but a big step in the right direction.

Thanks Debbie!
I work nights at a movie theater, so my extra time is really random. Last yr a new bookstore opened up across the street from the theater, so I don't have to wait for the library to get new books anymore!

Hello Christy! My name is Kristine, and just last week one of my friends introduced me as " an ubergeek". .
My current RPGs are D&D and Deadlands. I also cosplay, but more at Renfaires rather than cons. I watch anime with my son occasionally, so I have a nodding aquaintaince with the genre. Nice to see another female gamer around. ![]()

Hello.
I am a writer and SF reviewer. My reviews are posted through Midwest Book Review. I have a dozen published books including a sequel to the original Buck Rogers novellas and a bestselling SF hard science novel. I have had a number of short stories published as well. I write in the classic pulp style that is a mix of EE Doc Smith, Poul Anderson and Hamilton. I miss the classic SF style enough that I critique new SF with that classic style in mind. I am also a nonfiction reviewer and write technical articles ranging from complex systems physics to contemporary geography and from archeology to computer science.

Greetings, WONK! Just finished Flash Gordon on the Planet Mongo – it was a collection of the Flash Gordon Sunday comics from 1934-37 and it was like reading an illustrated history of SF – and America. Great stuff. I love that pulpy style as well....

Hi! I'm new to message boards and don't know what to write. My fiance is sick of me talking about books that he's never read (or wants to read) so he told me to find other people to talk to. I'm hoping I might find those people here! I read constantly, mostly Fantasy and Paranormal with some SciFy mixed in for variety. My favorite series' (right now) are the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck, Descendants by Jenna Black, Mercy Thompson (and Alpha and Omega) by Patricia Briggs and of course Shadow Falls by C. C. Hunter. (Is that too much?) My biggest struggle in life is coming up with new material to read, so I'm constantly looking for new books and series'. Usually I end up re-reading stuff a billion times simply for lack of something new to occupy myself. So I hope I can find people to talk to and exchange suggestions with.

Ah, yeah, you definitely came to the right place, HuntingWitch! I've discovered so many books on these forums I feel like Burgess Meredith in that old Twilight Zone episode (before he broke his glasses!).

HuntingWitch, like Paul so graciously said this is the right place.
I'm a HUGE Moning Fever fan too and am so excited that Iced is coming out late next month. I really liked Dani in the series and I sure hope we get to reconnect w/all of our old friends from the Fever series too.
Iced (Dani O'Malley Series #1)
Some other series you might like are the JR Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood series, it starts with Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood Series #1) plus she has a new Fallen Angels series out now too the first one is Covet (Fallen Angels Series #1)
Then you might like a new author I just found Alma Katsu And her Taker series starting with The Taker (Taker Trilogy #1)
there is so many more but I haven't had my coffee yet to wake my brain up. ![]()
it's good to see new blood here

HuntingWitch89 - I really like Patricia Briggs too. And there are some others like Yasmine Galenorn. She writes a series on three sisters that are different from each other and becoming more different all the time. She has about six or seven books out and continues her series. Kelley Armstrong is another good author. She has several series, but they tend to include witches as well as werewolves. L.A. Banks writes some interesting fantasy books. I got sort of tired of the central character, but he is popular. And Kim Harrison.
If you want to see a huge amount of fantasy books, you could try BookPsychic.com. You will have to wade through a lot of other psychic stuff, but keep going and you will find it. They have all sorts of authors.
I know what it is like to have friends and family get bored with talking books. That is one reason I joined too as I really wanted to talk with other people that shared my passion for reading. My friends either don't like the same books as I do, don't read at all, or don't want to talk about books in general.

Hi HuntingWitch89,
Dhaupt has some good recommendations. I am really looking forward to Karen Moning "Iced" in October. There is great Science Fiction and Fantasy on this board. Also check out the 'Paranormal & Urban Fantasy' here at Barnes and Noble book club. I have found there is a lot of books there I love too. The Seanan McGuire series October Daye is excellent with the latest book being discussed this month. McGuire also started a series starting with Discount Armageddon. Kat Richardson's Greywalker series is another really good one. I am slow on thinking at this time of the morning. But you will find lots of recommends between these 2 boards. I have found lots of new authors and types of books from Paul (the book pimp) and all the board people.
Discount Armageddon (InCryptid Series #1)

Hello everyone,
my name is Chris and I'm a fantasy/sci-fi/horror junkie. I remember discovering Tokien and Norse mythology when I was 10, Clarke and Heinlin when I was 12, and Philip K. Dick and Lovecraft shortly thereafter.
Not surprisingly, I married an author. I've since taken over the "business/non-writing" part of her endeavors and have recently created a website dedicated to free fantasy/sci-fi/horror books for nook (and other devices).
But honestly, I still prefer just reading a great story.
