The reason I featured this one is twofold – it's a much heralded debut from John R. Fultz and it was also spotlighted by B&N SF/f buyer James Killen, so I'm assuming it's going to be GOOD!

That was quite a lukewarm statement, Deb – any specifics? ![]()

Sorry, I really liked it. I gave it a 4.5 stars for RT.
I especially like debuts and this was a really good one, not as good as The Prince of Thorns but very good. In this one I liked the imagery especially when it comes to the villains - here's what I said about it
SEVEN PRINCES Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy
Fultz gives fantasy fans all they could want is in his debut epic fantasy. His characters are imaginative, his narrative unique without requiring a glossary. His plot combines coming-of-age and good-versus-evil narratives, keeping readers engaged from the first page to the last. The villains are nightmarish and the battle scenes explosive.
Enter a world of hearts true and false, where the winds of change blow, where an ancient malevolence is loosed from its sleeping den, and where the murder of kings will lead the charge. Seven princes from multiple kingdoms begin a quest seeking aid, some out of duty, some out of sorrow, some out of hate. Who will survive and who will perish, who’s the betrayed and who’s the betrayer? Amidst the battles between good and evil, legends are born and only fate and the gods know the truth of who is the usurper and who are the rightful rulers. Ever have one of those books that you REALLY want to read but that alway seems to be getting bumped by other books? That was Seven Princes for me. I finally got a chance to finish it and, I have to admit, I was more than impressed.I just Fultz's writing style – it was incredibly descriptive and really made the story come alive for me. LOVED IT! Great review Paul, you said everything my limited 200 words didn't allow me to.
I'm really looking forward to some sequels and continuations this year and this is one of them.
