New mid season shows, first impressions?

There are two new shows this month Alcatraz and Lost Girl. My first impression of Alcatraz is that the plot and character development is substandard. The focus so far has been on the concept and premise, but the writing hasn't delivered, some pretty good actors seem to be wasted.                                                                                                                                    Lost girl seems  to have a less ambitious idea but the characters are a bit more interesting, less than amazing plot so far, pretty standard action adventure stuff with some  simplistic romance. Show seems to have some potential for comedic elements.                                                                                                                                                                    Do you think either of these shows have the potential to turn into something special?

I agree on Alcatraz, I might watch a few more times. But I am already losing interest. Alcatraz is just slow for me.

I like Lost Girl. There is a thread on the Paranormal board with a few comments . To me it is a fun show with fae and all that that involves. Each show keeps it moving and provides good entertainment. I will keep watching and see how Lost Girl develops.

I've watched both series, and I prefer Alcatraz, although I also enjoyed Lost Girl.  I think that Alcatraz is more plot-driven, while Lost Girl will be more character-driven.  I wonder how long the producers think Alcatraz is going to run, though, because if they capture one inmate per episode, there would have to be several hundred episodes!  But maybe they will get a few gangs. :smileywink:

I also saw the first episode of Touch, and it looks really interesting.  But now it won't be on again until March. :smileyfrustrated:

Re: New mid season shows, first impressions?

We have watched Alcatraz.  Interesting premise.  But pretty standard stuff, overall.  It's watchable but if it doesn't last, I won't be heartbroken.

We watched the premier episode of Touch.  Liked it much better, even with the typical Keifer Sutherland overacting.
