Also the author of Make Room, Make Room (the source for the movie Soylent Green), Bill the Galactic Hero, the Deathworld series, and other books and series too numerous to mention.  Always an enjoyable read. R.I.P.

I remember reading some of his short stories in high school.  He'll be missed.

I loved the Stainless Steel Rat stuff but that was really just light-hearted (albeit well done) adventure. I LOVED his Deathworld novels and, most of all, his magnum opus on overpopulation Make Room! Make Room!  I cannot recommend this novel highly enough – it was the basis for the classic Charlton Heston flick Soylent Green.

Rest in Peace, Harry – you will be missed.
