The original "The Borrowers" for $1.99

[ Edited ]

Just saw this in my e-mail.  I would have thought they'd jack the price up with the new movie coming out. (Don't know why they changed the title.) I read this whole series as a child, years before I discovered Mary Alice Norton was also the SF writer Andre Norton.

That's a great find Mac and I never had realized Mary Norton was the same as Andre Norton.  I loved the gadgetry and inventiveness of the Borrowers.  This was one of the few times I thought a telemovie (the old one with Eddie Albert) really captured the essence of a book well; I hope the new one does as well.

When she started writing SF, women writers weren't exactly welcomed, so she chose Andre as a pen name.

You're right about the Eddie Albert version.  I thought it captured the spirit pretty well.  I'll be interested to see the new version, since it's from the same studio that did Howl's Moving Castle .
