That Fablehaven looks pretty tight thanks for interducing it to me.

Fablehaven is fun to read. And I'm running into people everywhere I go who are reading it or have read it. Kind of adds a nice comraderie when out in public: to realize two strangers have something in common. I just finished the 4th book and loved the way Brandon Mull handles the twist and climax. Very satisfying. He didn't go in the direction most female authors would have gone and I like that.

Re: What are you currently reading?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently reading Derik's Bane (A Wyndham Werewolf Tale), by Mary Janice Davidson.  She also wrote the undead series, which I love.  I also just finished the Aisling Grey Series.  Great addition to anyone's library.  How's everyone?

Re: What are you currently reading?

I just got In The Court Of The Sun from the library and I didn't know how big a book it was going to be 684 pages.  It is going to take a while to read.  I'm glad that I didn't buy this book.  No lugging it around.  So I'm glad that I also got some lighter reads to take with me.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading The Dragonriders of Pern. Found it at a book sale and decided to get it. It's a little strange right now, but good. I desperately want to read Lamentation... but I have no money and my libraries don't have it...

Avid, my library didn't carry it either until I went to the circulation desk and requested it. I found out my library will buy books for patrons if they just fill out a request form. Next time you're at the library, check with your librarian and see if they offer that service. That way the library foots the bill and you can enjoy the books you want to read.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I've liked them so far, there is only one more coming out.  It's being released next month I think.  If you like Greek Mythology I think you will like the books.  Percy is a likeable character even when he is pouting.   I don't think I would say they are as well written as the  Harry Potter books, more in the Lemony Snickett area.

Re: What are you currently reading?

On a scale of one to ten for YA books I would rate this series a 6.  Likeable characters, really obscure references to Greek Mythology, ok humor, enjoyable plot.  They are a really quck read.  I like them enough to buy them as opposed to checking out from the library if that means anything.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I love Sharon Shinn's Twelve Houses series!:smileyhappy:

I also enjoy Jim Butcher's Codex Alera and Dave Duncan's Kings Blades series.

Can you recommend more books along those lines?

Re: What are you currently reading?

Gl,

You might like Robin Hobbs' Shaman's Son Trilogy that start with Shaman's Crossing, Jennifer Roberson's Del and Tiger series that starts with Sword-Dancer, any of Elizabeth Moon's books or Jude Fisher's trilogy that starts with Wild Magic.

Re: What are you currently reading?

Gaby,

On the Jude Fisher trilogy I mistakenly gave you the second book as the first which is Sorcery Rising then Wild Magic than Rose Of The World.  I hope that you enjoy them.

Re: What are you currently reading?

Well, I am on to A Canticle for Leibowitz.

I am a little late at getting to it, but I guess rather be late than never...

I am looking forward to the discussion, in a few days when I am done.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I'm reading Eulalia by Brian Jacques. A revengeful badger, a cheeky squirrel, a banished hedgehog thief, a hare maid boxing champion on a quest, and lots of vermin to scuffle with! Great fun and lots of mouth-watering food to read about.

Just found out the latest Percy Jackson is in at my library--and I won the spot for first in the queue! Must get the car back today to go pick it up.

I just started Elantris  by Sanderson.

I have just finished reading Sandersons first two books of the Mistborn series, absolutely fantastic, and hope to get The Hero of Ages soon.

Doomsday Book

This is a really good and realistic timetravel book (my copy has a better cover picture than this, a scared young woman in an old fashioned cape.) Set in the future when historians travel back in time to find realistic history. Plagues from the past, flu from the future, well developed main and side characters. The best book I've read (started) in a long time.
