I just got a very nice letter from Amazon.com, telling me that they cancelled my pre-order for Wise Man's Fear, because, quote, "Though we had expected to be able to send this item to you, we've since found that it is not available from any of our sources at this time. We realize this is disappointing news to hear, and we apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you."
I mean, whiskey tango foxtrot? They can't get a copy of the sequel to The Name of the Wind?!? Amazon, did someone rob your warehouse while you were sleeping? Because I can't fathom how you could somehow run out of one of the biggest fantasy block-busters right before it's due to be released. It's not like I just tried to order WMF last week, either; IIRC I've been on the waiting list since last year.
And no, B&N doesn't have any copies to pre-order, either. *smashes computer screen*

That would probably be because he has not finished the book yet so it is not coming out for a while

This really irks me because I thought I had read somewhere that Mr. Rothfuss had the first three books essentially finished when he sold this saga to DAW... But, hey, if it's not ready, it's not ready. Even though I'm dying to read this book, I want it to be as great as The Name of the Wind so I guess I will just have to be patient...

Qwert:
I'm right there with you – The Name of the Wind was unarguably one of the best fantasy releases of the last decade but so too was Lamentation by Ken Scholes. If I were you, I'd pick up a copy of Lamentation and read it.
The beautiful thing about this is: #1. It will undoubtedly dull the pain of having to wait for The Wise Man's Fear, and #2. you only have a few months until the sequel to Lamentation, Canticle, is released in October!
Trust me on this one: if you think the Patrick Rothfuss release was amazing, Ken Scholes' Lamentation is just as good.
