You mean Justin Bieber is not set to play Ender?  Bummer.

I did too. I think that they shoud've gone the 'Harry Potter' route; get a bunch of promising unknowns for the kid roles and fill the adult roles with well established actors. Let Jack Nicholson run the training facility :smileyhappy:

He's a good choice too. Why not have both? Put Michael in charge of the training facility and Jack (you want me on that ship ... you need me on that ship) can captain the space ship. Jake Lloyd can play the kid that Ender beats up and kills :smileyvery-happy:

Ender's Game.

Due out next year: http://www.avclub.com/articles/enders-game-movie-finds-its-ender,65398/

Still wondering how they're going to screw up the bathroom fight scene in order to get it past the censors. No way it's going to get onto the big screen in 'as written' condition.

I'll believe it when I see it in theaters.  I've been teased too many times before.

Well, unless the studio goes belly up or they have unusual production problems, you will see it. It's currently filming. Most studios don't change their mind at that point. It's scheduled for release next March.

Casting seems good. Solid child actors. Though I would have preferred someone other than Harrison Ford as Graff.

I'm more worried about the choice of director. Gavin Hood. Really? The man who brought us the stinking pile that was X-Men Origins:Wolverine?

Suppose it could have been worse. They could have called Brett Ratner...:smileylol:

Just be happy you Orson Scott Card fans aren't stuck with Verhoeven like we Heinlein fans were.  :smileymad:

I'd have to agree with most everyone on the submitted suggestions, so I won't waste your time by reposting the same-old. I'd have to say newcomer Don F. Marrs and his novel 'The Last Astronaut', as well as sci-fi staple Jerry Oltion and his 'Getaway Special' and the sequel 'Anywhere but Here'

Even though it's been through two adaptations, I'd love to see a true adaptation of Dune free of the studio/monetary restrictions.  I just watched the David Lynch movie (which has great production value and casting) but suffers from "Ridley Scott synrome" ( "I have worked for three years and made a 3.5 hour movie but the studio is forcing me to cut it down to two hours so now it makes no sense script-wise" ).  The more recent SyFy adaptation was bleargh, terrible.

I think the real problem is point of view. In the books it shifts frequently and the characters different memories and points of view make everything understandable. Tough to do in a movie so they focus on the battles and Pauls point of view.

Re: You're a producer and money doesn't matter...

I would love to see a movie version of The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony

And I would love to see a TV series bases on the Embervers series by S.M. Stirling

Of course TWOT series by Jordan, The Shannara series by Brooks, and a really good adaptation of Dune would be all welcomed.
