New Avengers the sentry review

New Avengers, Volume 2

New Avengers the Sentry The new formed team are looking for a powerhouse to replace some of the members that were no longer a part of avengers. They turn to a mysterious hero named the Sentry who reminds me of DC's Captain Marvel for he's two people a small runt and a supermanlike hero. The problem is unlike Marvel this hero doesn't know how to control his transformation so the avengers turn to the xmen for telepathic help. The xmen send Emma Frost who digs into his mind to find the secret of his powers. With his powers solved the avengers get a powerful addition.

New Avengers secrets and lies

The add product button wasn't working so I went and got the link on bn for it. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/new-avengers-volume-3-brian-michael-bendis/1108941155?ean=9780785170... New Avengers secrets and lies As I mentioned before Spiderwoman is not related to Spiderman in any way. Since this novel digs into her past, I thought I begin by introducing you to her. Jessica Drew is Spiderwoman and her powers are different then his. She has a energy ray power that has a toxicity effect similar to a poisonous spider, also her body gives off pheromones that make males attracted to her, which she uses that ability to get information out of people by charming them. Jessica Drew is an agent of Shield but she's also been a member of Hydria who is Shield's enemy. Here's the interesting part both groups believed she's a double agent for the other. The truth is she is loyal to Shield but as her past is revealed the Avengers now question her loyalty but, Nick Fury vouches for her.

Wolverine:Logan review

Wolverine I reviewed this one on new and recommend but I thought might be good to redo it with other graphic novels here. This graphic novel is divided in two periods. The present and world war ii. Logan is basically immortal cause his healing power makes his aging very slow. Now during WWII he served in the war and he met a Japanese woman who he fell in love with. His combat partner though was angry cause Japan was the enemy. So his partner murders his girlfriend, goes without saying Wolverine was mad. He goes out to avenge her but just then the US dropped the bomb. His healing protected him but his partner was a different story. However instead of killing him he became an energy monster that burned everything he touched and had to live on energy to keep his body going. Now in the present, Wolverine has found him and he hasn't forgotten about his girlfriend. The price is pretty cheap for this title as well, under five so it's a real bargin. Cause the add product is still giving me trouble I giving the link to the product page instead. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Wolverine-Logan/Brian-K-Vaughan/e/9780785171348/?itm=4&USRI=wolveri...

Favorite list

Hey I wanted to do something a bit different I used to do reviews like I do for the forum on a blog which kinda has died due to time in life but, something else I did with the blog was lists of favorites and that's what I want to give you just for the fun of it. Favorite heroes This list has to begin with Marvel comics and the character I named my beloved kitty after. Shadowcat. Shadowcat is one of the x men, she has the power to phase through objects. Not a powerhouse but, every team needs support members. Staying with Xavier's school no list can be complete without everyone's favorite Canadian hero Wolverine. Wolverine has claws, a bad attitude and claws and oh did I mention claws? Lol I love so many x-men I could make a list without leaving their roster but to be fair I will just mention the next x-men and move on so it's not just them. Nightcrawler, Beast, Cyclops, Storm, and the Professor. The next group I going to mention for the list is going on as a whole unit. Mr Fantasic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing put them together and you get Fantasic Four. The Avengers have some great heroes too, Captain America, the super soldier who taken on both Nazi Germany and aliens interesting combo. Lol Thor the Norse God of thunder. One thing I really like about marvel they really researched the Norse mythos when they created the story for Thor. DC has heroes worth mentioning too, a DC group can't be complete without the Dark Knight. Batman is one of the few heroes that could really exist in our world. He maybe have no powers but he doesn't let that stop him from being extraordinary. Batman is one pole for DC, the other pole is his exact opposite. Faster then a speeding bullet, more powerful then a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look up in the sky is it a bird? No, is it a plane? No it's Superman. I also before moving on have to say I loved Smallville. I could go on forever but I know this is getting long. Hope you all liked it.

New Avengers the Collective review

New Avengers the Collective the team takes on an unique villain call the Collective hence the title. He's a collection of powers of many mutants that have died. The team roster continues from previous volumes I reviewed with the additions of Ms. Marvel and the Vision. This issue is Iron Man heavy as he is able to reach the humanity inside the Collective and get himself to stop the chaos he created. Speaking of Iron Man soon I will be reviewing some of his graphic novels. I am providing the link to product page for this one. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/New-Avengers-Volume-4/Brian-Michael-Bendis/e/9780785170808/?itm=5&U...

Invincible Iron Man Five Nightmares review

Iron Man the Five Nightmares review Tony has to tackle M.O.D.O.K., Murder Inc, the Vulture, and most of all Ezekiel Stane who has made his own armor suit to destroy Iron Man. In this issue, the villains target Tony's girlfriend Pepper Potts, she survives but is hospitalized in critical condition. Now even if Tony didn't have a super armor suit there's a cardinal rule you don't mess with a guy's lover. He teams with War Machine to avenge the attack. He later teams with Thor and Spiderman as well in this volume. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Invincible-Iron-Man-Volume-1/Matt-Fraction/e/9780785170693/?itm...

Invincible Iron Man World's Most Wanted part one review

Iron Man World's Most Wanted part one review. In the series Dark Avengers a new "Iron Man" called the Iron Patriot emerged and formed his own team. Now the man behind that armor is Norman Osborne who is aka the Green Goblin in Spiderman series but, publicly the Iron Patriot considered a hero. As the Iron Patriot he demands Iron Man to be arrested. For a crime Tony Stark didn't do by the way. Iron Man must run from authorities and prove his innocence. He takes on War Machine, Namor, and Iron Patriot in his issue. There's a second volume to complete this saga this is part one. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Invincible-Iron-Man-Volume-2/Salvador-Larroca/e/9780785170662/?itm=...

Xmen Season one review

Xmen Season one review This is a xmen origin story. The story is told mostly in the pov of Jean Grey who joins Cyclops, Iceman, Angel and Beast though not yet blue to form the first xmen. The team faces the brotherhood of mutants and sentinels. I loved seeing the classic costume looks. This is kinda an expensive nook graphic novel but I found it at my library so you may want to check there if the price is a little heavy right now for you. I do want to point out the prices do drop occasionally on sales so you might want to put it on a wish list and wait for a drop if you want it. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/X-Men/Dennis-Hopeless/e/9780785171577/?itm=1&USRI=xmen+season

Re: The Avengers volume 1 review

I'd love to see a Graphic Novel club.

A lot of fans focus on the Marvel/DC series, but there's also so many of the stand-alone stories or less superhero-style series.  I myself have been trying to learn more about graphic novels.

I've read Surrogates, some of Sandman, Luna Park, Freakangels, etc.  I've added to my wishlist The Kite Runner, Lightning Thief, and a few others.

Any advice? :smileyhappy:

Re: The Avengers volume 1 review

Well that's why I review graphic novels cause there isn't a board forum here dedicated to then plus I'm a comic book geek as my username is a xmen heroine for example. I do know there's a few Facebook graphic novel clubs you may want to look at them. Also if you ever want to review a graphic novel yourself here you are more then welcome to.

Jude, my advice is take shadowcat's advice, you are certanly welcome to use this venue to talk about Graphic Novels, the only requirement I have is that they are available at B&N or at least on a Nook accessable format.

Other than that have fun, if you tag on the bottom like shadowcat does then you may pull other graphic novel fans in also.

And welcome to the forum I had no idea The Kite Runner was being released in a graphic novel format.

I loved that book.

Siege review

Siege review This volume is set during the Dark Avengers era. The Dark Avengers are an evil version of the team, led by Norman Osborne as Iron Patriot who is an Iron Man armored in America theme color. That's a ruse to make him look like a hero though. Norman Osborne is also Green Goblin one of Spiderman's greatest foes. The team also includes Victor Von Doom, Loki, the Taskmaster, and Namor, but their egos are splitting them apart. Osborne knows to keep the team together, they need a major victory desperately. He is told by Loki that Tony Stark who is injured is in Asgard recovering. The Dark Avengers set a battle in Asgard and it's up to Thor to protect Tony Stark by himself. Captain America and the rest of the team find out about this attack and make their way to assist Thor. The roster with Captain America include Spiderman, Spiderwoman, Ms Marvel, Luke Cage, Nick Fury and much more. The battle of the two teams are amazing. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Siege/Brian-Michael-Bendis/e/9780785170952/?itm=1&USRI=siege

Repost Batman r.i.p review

Batman R.I.P is a wonderful graphic novel by Grant Morrison who has made three of the X-men novels I'm reviewed before. He also is the maker of the All-Star Superman series as well which was very popular at the time. Anyways on to the review, Batman has many enemies and they desire him dead. The most notable being his nemesis the Joker who has a plan to destroy Batman's mind so he can be taken down once and for all. But he's not called the dark knight for nothing. I am reposting this one cause I saw this title is available for nook color and tablet now. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Batman-RIP/Grant-Morrison/e/9781401235833/?itm=10&USRI=batman
