A really good book is much like an artichoke. As you peel back each page of the of the book, you get closer and closer to the succulent heart of the story.

Re: January Reading Schedule- Bridge of Scarlet Leaves

My book should arrive any day now!

Thank you for waiting until the 7th to start the discussion, Debbie.  That will give us time to settle into the new year.

Re: January Reading Schedule- Bridge of Scarlet Leaves

I just got my copy downloaded to my nook. Things are settling down after all the traveling we did this month and everyone's starting to get back to their old routines. I'm really excited to get back to reading and returning to book club. Can't wait to discuss this book with you all next month! Happy 2013!

Re: January Reading Schedule- Bridge of Scarlet Leaves

First section read.....WOW....great start.  I can hardly wait. :-)  I lived in Santa Fe, NM for 30+ years, where one of the detention camps was built.  My best friend in elementary school was 2nd generation Japanese and his uncle was caught and prosecuted as a spy during WWII.  The family was devastated  I have read and studied the story of Japanese Americans and what they endured before, during and after the war.  This read is already wonderful.  The discussion has great promise.

Muse I always love when your voice joins ours in the discussions. And you're so right about this having great promise and I think we'll all fulfill that promise.
