Hi Ryan - I checked out the info on this book and it looks very interesting - even on your recommendation alone, I think I'll try it. Did you read The Passage ? nad how did you like that ? Thanks...

Ryan, GREAT review and by the way you sold me :smileyhappy:

I have to admit that on the subject of The Road by McCarthy I'm of the hated it croud, the writing was wonderful but I just couldn't get over the "baby farm". And I'm a huge fan of apocalyptic fiction pre-post or otherwise and this premise is just too hard to pass up.

I do have a suggestion for you if you think you might be interested in another pre-catastrophy fiction you might like SuperVolcano Eruption by Harry Turtledove, it's about the super volcano that lives under Yellowstone. Here's a link to my review if you're interested http://www.rtbookreviews.com/book-review/supervolcano-eruption

The second in the trilogy comes out this December

And one more that I loved was Alex Adams' White Horse here's that review too - http://www.rtbookreviews.com/book-review/white-horse

So now I'll have to find time to read this one too.

thanks Pal :smileyhappy:

I enjoyed the Passage more than I thought I would. Now I just need to find the time to read the second book.

I loved The Road, but I understand why people didn't. I even liked the movie, though I could have done without the action scenes they put in.

I will have to check out the super volcano book.

Hey, Ryan...no problem.  I have more books than I know what to do with right now, and I'd actually forgotten about it until I read your post.

I'll keep my eyes peeled, and thanks again.  :smileyhappy:

Ryan,

I decided to get this book.  If a book can suck you in the way this one seemed to do, I know he must be a decent writer.  :smileyhappy:  I only skimmed through a little of the synopsis, since I never read all the synopsis on book covers either, only the first sentence of two, I rely primarily on blurbs, and recommends.  I also don't read all of most reviews.  Ryan, you do a good job of not telling me too much right off the bat...just enough for me to catch the gist of what the story is about and how it made you feel, and that's it.  It was enough.  Thanks.

Kathy
