The Untamed - Max Brand.
I have only read one or two other Westerns. So I decided to pick one up. This one is supposed to be a "classic" Western. It's melodramatic, unlikely, and full of outdated western slang and mannerism. But it is entertaining and moves along pretty well. I remember as a kid seeing a lot of Brand and L'amour paperbacks at every drug store and supermarket. So, I gave one a chance. Light reading.
Next on the list? Not sure, I have a number of books downloaded. Will probably just pick one.

Secrets to Happiness Just about to finish this one. It's a quick and easy read but I'm not sure I would feel comfortable recommending it to anyone.

I was planning to read IQ84, but instead have picked up 11/23/63. I'll be reading this on my NST.
11/22/63 I know Deb and some others have read it. (What did you think?) My local book club is reading it for Feb. Some friends and I are also listening to the Jackie Kennedy interview tapes, so I'm going to be a Kennedyophile it looks like.
I'll also be reading Paris Noire on my NC on the Android side where I have some alternate e-reader software installed.
Everything I listed last month at the top of my reading pile is still there: IQ84, The Marriage Plot, The Art of Fielding. At least I think they are still there. The pile is so high, I can no longer see the top!

Optic, That's what I thought. Finished it last night and will post my review on the review thread. As for not recommending it: I just don't know of anyone who I think would like it. (My opinion only)![]()

The True and Authentic History of Jenny Dorset I really wanted to choose this one for my f2f book club but it's a little long and hard to find. However, the reviews are great and hopefully I'll think the same. I need something to savor. I already like the writing style and "voice" of the book and am only 15 pages in.

Apart from the Crowd Thought this one would be a light hearted romance---er, not so much. These people have problems. Serious problems. Even though it wasn't what I was in the mood for, I'm still reading...

The Inside Ring (Joe DeMarco Series #1)
The Strategy of Satan I am reading the Inside Ring and the Strategy of Satan right now. My TBR pile grows bigger after looking at what others are reading!

Mystic River - Lehane.
Sorry I can't seem to post the pictures like others do. Maybe my browser?
100 pages into it. Well written. Jumps around a bit.

First, Deb, thanks for the recommendation. I'll check into it! Now, currently reading this one until I can find some lighter fare. (This one is sort of short, so it will do for now!
)
Gilgamesh It satisfies my penchant for authors who are not well known.

Right now I'm reading a pre-puubed that I'll be featuring on pub day 2-28
The Darkest Seduction (Lords of the Underworld Series #9)
for those of you who follow the Lords of the Underworld series this is Paris's novel, it's one that I've been waiting for, it seems forever.
so stay tuned and on 2-28 I'll post Gena's Q&A and my review of the novel too.

It Takes a Witch was a fun read. Heather Blake also writes under Heather Webber. One of her Lucy Valentine books was a Sneak Peek here at Barnes and Noble.

Wow, I read the synopsis on this book and it looks like a potential great read. Let me know what you think of it when you are finished. I am well aquainted with Gilgamesh and the stories of pre-history, so the title caught my eye.
