Re: Tell us what you're reading right now and what's next on your shelf

The Twelve (Passage Trilogy Series #2)

Unfortunately I won't be able to say anything about it until the October edition of the magazine comes out. :smileysad:

And sometimes when it comes to these epic novels I almost rather not review them for publications as they limit the words to describe them.

I actually turned down reviewing Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy #2)  because of that and because I have a Q&A coming out on Tuesday.

But I will let you know if it's as good, better or whatever than the first

Holy moly, I'm jealous too!  Now that I have my Nook, I pre-ordered this book for it.  After holding The Passage in my hands, I didn't want to go through that again! One of the things that prompted my buying the Nook.

I hope you enjoy this reading, Deb....If you don't like it....don't tell me!  LOL...but I know you will.  Cronin is a very good writer.

I'm reading The Book of the Forsaken by Yannis Karatsioris. Yannis is a brilliant new author, and just published The Book of the Forsaken early this month in print and ebook.

Re: Tell us what you're reading right now and what's next on your shelf

Hi all.  I just got this ebook from my library.

The Mephisto Club (Rizzoli and Isles Series #6)

I love Tess Gerritsen and this is a page turner.  Very spooky.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Hi Chrytech2, and welcome to the forum, I love Kristin Hannah, although I have to admit that when this novel came out my husband was being treated for cancer his self, but I have read everything else she's written.

Thanks for sharing your reads with us and I sure hope to see you back again soon sharing some more.

Re: Tell us what you're reading right now and what's next on your shelf

The Elegance of the Hedgehog  Reading this one for my f2f bookclub. Quite a switch from the book I'd read just prior (Hunger Games). It's as if I was driving in 4th gear and suddenly threw the car into reverse. This will not be an easy read.

One Breath Away  I rarely read two books at once but had to add another one to give my mind a break from "Elegance..." I'll read this one in the night time hours and the other in the daylight hours.

Boundaries by Elizabeth Nunez, and my look at writing

This is a new book, and a new author for me.  http://aalbc.com/authors/elizabet.htm

Elizabeth Nunez was recomended by Bernice L. McFadden, a now favorite author of mine.

I just started reading this novel last night.  I can say I like it.....it's wonderful to know this publisher, Kashic Books, puts out quality Literary Fiction.

Boundaries

It's fascinating how writers write.  What I mean is, I enjoy seeing how prose is written in such a way as to literally make you feel.  I don't mean the words, themselves, but the WAY in which those words are placed on the pages.  You get an incredible sense of the writer. You feel their pulse, their heartbeat.  At least I can, anyway.  :smileyvery-happy:

Bernice McFadden writes with passion, and it seeps into her story and characters.  You live with her characters, from beginning to end.

Elizabeth Nunez is also an award winning writer.  She allows her words to flow with ease, an ease that feels like your in her boat, floating on a vast ocean when it's calm.  You can feel the undercurrents all around, but you find calmness within this turmoil.

Re: Re:Eat The City

I think I read more ficiton than nonfiction.  It just seems that I've been given the opportunity to read more nonficiton than normal lately.

As far as type, I think if the subject interests me, I'll read it.  I don't think I have specific guidelines for the nonficiton I'll read.

The Black Echo (Harry Bosch Series #1)    I am currently reading the first book in the Bosch series.  Having read a few of them, but out of order, it is nice that the first two Nook books of the series were offered recently at a special price.
