Re: What are you reading now and what's next?

It's Friday time to line up all your weekend reading

here's what's on my plate

Along with my required reading I can't wait to read a debut in a new series by my all time favorite historical romance author Claire Delacroix/aka Deborah Cooke

The Renegade's Heart

she is a master of the genre and she often throws in a little woo woo Love woo woo

you may know her better as the author of the Dragonfire Series we read the first one in her series as a group earlier

Kiss of Fire (Dragonfire Series #1)

next I want to read my new feature for 8-21

Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend

i can't wait for you all to meet him, he's great and if his writing is as good as his Q&A we may meet him for a month for a featured read.

Then of course I'll be reading the next section of our current read

The Dispatcher

so belly up to the bar and tell me all about your troubles and what you'll be reading this weekend

Daughters of the Witching Hill

well her new book is about to come out it's called

Illuminations

and she's sending me a copy, who knows she may be back in 2013

She was a great guest author

Illuminations

I didn't read Witching Hills, but I might give this one consideration. Sounds good.

Re: What are you reading now and what's next?

Wicked

Not my usual type of read at all, but, of course, I have heard good things, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Something Dangerous

This is the second book in a trilogy.  I loved No Angel, the first book, so am on to the second.

Kathy Daughters of the Witching Hill was an amazing novel, based on the true events of the Witch Trials in Pendle England of 1612, Marry is a talented storyteller as well as a historian who made the book come alive, she was also a great guest author.

Hi Laura, it's so good to see you on the board and I always enjoy seeing what you're reading

let us know what you think of Wicked, I'm always interested when folks go outside of their comfort zone of reading to see how they liked it.

Hope to see you soon

Re: What are you reading now and what's next?

nuclear winter wonderland

Nuclear Winter Wonderland  Picked this one up for a friend who loves books with an odd story line. After reading reviews I've decided that perhaps I should take a gander at it before I send it to her.

Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3)  This came in the mail before I could really get inot NWW and I fear it will become my priority! I just hate leaving one book for another but I just don't see how I can avoid it in this case.

120 pages out of 400 and I am throwing in the towel.  I just did not enjoy this book.  While it is well written, creative, and funny, I also found it to be too politically correct.  I didn’t care about the characters, who weren’t real people, and I could not imagine them to be so.  Therefore, I found the big themes being addressed in the story to be annoying rather than interesting.

I fervently believe that life's too short to read a bad book Laura, thanks for your comment

Deb, I'm sure it was a very good novel, I'm just not into witch trials, as fascinating as the subject can be....just isn't my cupOtea.  I'm putting Illuminations on my Wish List for now.  I've bought so many books lately, and I'm so far behind on my reading....Being glued to the TV, watching the Olympics, and up so late, didn't get me motivated to read...and the heat cremated my brain.
