Re: Tell us what you're reading right now and what's next on your shelf

Well it's been a fast paced few weeks of reading

The Reckoning

The second in a dark adult fairy tale

then I read one of the most beautiful and poingnant novels in a while

Overseas

I also did a Q&A on 5-10 celebrating it's release and drum roll please, Beatriz has agreed to be our featured author in February of 2013 when we'll read the novel together.

I just finished

The Cottage at Glass Beach

and I have a Q&A posted today release day

Pen, this is one of those novels you can read more than once, multilayered and I know you'll pick up more every time you read it.

So if you find the time read it now and then re-read it with me in Feb.

Re: Tell us what you're reading right now and what's next on your shelf

Anne I'm so glad you liked Overseas, I can't wait until March when Beatriz is with us while we read and discuss this amazing new release.

I've been watching the NY Times list because if it doesn't appear on there someone's not doing their job.

This weekend I'm trying to put to bed some of my reviews for publication

I just finished and reviewed  Heron's Cove

next I'll be reading this second in a dark fantasy

King of Thorns

then the newest upcoming from Susan Wiggs in her Lakeside Chronicals

 Return to Willow Lake

Then i'll be reading this newest by Elizabeth Lowell and it will be the new release feature on Tuesday so stay tuned for that

Beautiful Sacrifice

Then I'll be finishing up our Summer tour of Europe and will find out what Gwen, Emerson and Richard will finally do while enjoying the vistas and the food too.

A Summer in Europe

I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend and always has a book or a nook in their hands.  :smileyhappy:

Whiter Than Snow  I haven't picked up a Sandra Dallas novel since Tallgrass .  Since my brain is laden down w/school readings I found myself needing an easier read. This one is doing the trick.

Now, I'm not sure if I'm liking it yet :smileyindifferent:and I'm about 170 pages in. It's not a book with a story line. I'll have to see how she wraps it up.

[ Edited ]

Fieldwork  This one has been on my shelves for 6 years. Thought it was time to crack it open. Only 2 chapters in: too early to tell yet but it's looking promising.

It's still on my shelf too!  Let us know what you think.  I remember that Stephen King recommended it.

Re: Tell us what you're reading right now and what's next on your shelf

:smileylol:  I agree --"Yeah! and Double Yeah!" for 2013 reads

Right now I'm reading

The Dud Avocado  In the past five years, this 1958 novel has had a resurgence of popularity.(Must be all us babyboomers wanting to relive our youth or something.) Two factors first interested me in this book:  1) the title is curious and funny, 2) the main character was compared wit Holly Golightly in some review I read.   I'm about three chapters in and I love the quirky main character, Sally Jay Gorce, and the Paris setting.  I'm still waiting to see how the title fits.

Up next for me are

The Marriage Plot  (Local Book Club)

A Deeper Darkness   (Fiction General June Book!)

A lot of those book covers, synopsises, and books were back then. I'm always a little surpised by it, but I never think about it too much.
