Thanks to all of you who read and enjoyed Bereft. So pleasing to know that a little something I wrote in the depths of a Sydney winter has somehow come out into the world and found an audience all the way over in the US. Thanks for all your comments and insights and good luck with your future reading!

best wishes

Re: Thank you Chris Womersley

Can I just say I LOVED this book.  I read it pen in hand.  I underlined.  I wrote questions and notes in the margin.  (Most of the "old friends" I revisit have such notes in their margins.)

Chris, this book became an old friend within the first few pages.  I will go back and revisit Quinn and Sadie.  I will relive their struggle to find justice and contentment in their world, a time and place where neither quality seems to exist.  Their world Is ugly, but you tell their story, Chris, with such tender beauty.  Thank you for such a beautiful novel.

Re: Thank you Chris Womersley

Chris, thank you for creating such an outstanding novel!  There is so much depth to the story.  I kept me thinking, guessing, and turning the pages.

Debbie, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read such a wonderful book before it hit the American shelves!

Re: Thank you Chris Womersley

Chris,

Thank you so much for creating this spellbinding story for us! I enjoyed both the story and a peek into historical rural Australia, and will be on the lookout for your future novels.

Best of luck,

Elaine

Re: Thank you Chris Womersley

thanks

Chris,

Sometimes the words "Thank You" do not adequately express the depth of the emotion that you feel towards someone for a gift.  That is what you shared with us in this work.  Bereft was a step above, it was more than a story.  It made us hurt, made us cry, made us think -- really think, and made us be willing to step outside our comfortzone and look at life from a different view.  You gave us a new window to an era that we don't often read about and made us truly feel the dispair of that time like we were actually there and living it.

It has been a joy to spend this month with you.  Your voice through the written word has moved my heart and helped me to re-learn the true definition of the word Bereft.

A really good book is much like an artichoke. As you peel back each page of the of the book, you get closer and closer to the succulent heart of the story.
