dhaupt, I think Claude married Alice because he lost Camille. He needed someone. She had come into his life when he needed someone. I also think he wanted some to help him raise his son.
I also think that he found another love. Not as great as the love he had for Camille but someone to spend the rest of his life with.
I think that he needed her.

When I read Claude & Camille I simply could not put it down. I have always been drawn to both Impressionist music and art. I had peeked into the composers lives but to get to see the artists side was fascinating.
