A really good book is much like an artichoke. As you peel back each page of the of the book, you get closer and closer to the succulent heart of the story.

Re: Week two discussion of A Summer in Europe

Happy birthday, Debbie!

Gwen, Emerson and I got you a little something to remember our trip-but I'm having technical difficulties. How do I insert a picture that's saved on my desktop? I tried the insert/edit image button but it didn't work.

Sorry Seattle sometimes pics work sometimes they don't if you can shade the image and then save and paste it usually works but if it's only on your desktop you may need to email it to me.

let me know.

Any other technical help

my Birthday is actually next Thursday, but my girlfriend is going on vacation so we had to do it early.

Okay closing up shop chat w/you all in the am.

LOL about the cornbread being square, Muse :smileywink:.

And, Deb, your early birthday lunch sounded delicious and, of course, your chocolate gelato dessert must have been an absolutely perfect meal ending!!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and looking forward to chatting more next week!

Re: Week two discussion of A Summer in Europe

There was a 6.1 earthquake in Northern Italy yesterday since we've been visiting there I thought I'd let you all know so you can add them to your prayer list your thoughts whatever helps.

They lost a lot of historical architecture as well as lives, very tragic.

Sigh.

I was just reading about the quake today and feeling sad. A couple of my friends were in the Bologna region of Italy in March for the big book fair there. I was so sorry to hear about this.

Definitely sending prayers for everyone there and for all those who have friends or relatives in the area.

Marilyn, how scary to know that friends were in the area.

Seattle has a pic that she wanted included in this section but the gremlins are at work today and won't let me post the pic no matter which browser I use.

Seattle I will try later

sorry

Yes, thank you Deb for posting the picture. Those darn gremlins!

Marilyn, I'm glad that you liked the mask. Did you buy any masks when you were in Venice? I didn't and now I wished I had. Oh well, good excuse to go back to Italy.

Seattle,

Yes, we brought masks home on every trip (we were there 3 times), which was tricky when we were only carrying backpacks. We had to be really careful packing them up! And a few of the masks were these really odd shapes -- like a curved leaf -- making for a pretty unwieldy package. But I love their different designs and would jump at the chance to visit Venice again so I could bring home a few more. We both need to go back, don't we?!

Daydreaming...sigh :smileywink:.
