Re: Community Room

How many of you have convinced your friends to pre-order this one already?  =D  It hasn't been hard to do at all! I just wish they could all read it sooner, hehehe.

Re: Community Room

I have just started the 3rd chapter of Before I Fall, I feel so behind and will have to catch up. The only other YA book I have read was Hush, Hush and I absolutely loved it & will be anxiously awaiting her follow up book.

I just finished "Baby Proof" by Emily Giffin. I really enjoy her books. If you haven't read one (of her books), I recommend you do!

Along with reading "Before I Fall", I am reading books about knitting (new found hobby :smileyhappy:

Can't wait to get this one and start on it---my person goal is 100 books this year.  Right now, I'm falling a little behind - only logging 4.5 for January so far---but this is one goal I will enjoy working hard on!

Wow! 100 books! I'm aiming for 82 this year (a book and a half a week) and I'm not doing to bad. So far I'm at 5 books and almost done with the newest book I'm reading. Good luck hitting your goal!

You made me go back and count my books read so far.  Not counting picture books I am at 18 so far this year.  My goal is to have about 10 a month, one every few days, but it is so easy to get behind!

A friend of mine gave me a great little book to keep track of what I read this year.  My goal is to fill up all of the pages by the end of the year.  I just finished filling in page 12!!

You can also use a site like Goodreads to keep track of what books you've read and want to read.  I kind of have slacked off at using it, but I started in the fall and it was a great way to keep track of the books and you can rate them or review them if you want as well.

Re: Community Room

This study investigates the effect of abstinence on young adolescents in 6th and 7th grades and suggests that abstinence only programs might work. I don't know why the sample was only African American students but I found it amazing that 12 and13 year olds were actively engaging in sex, so much so that a study had to be done about it.

I also found it strange that in a discussion on Current Events, no one even thought it was unusual. They discussed the study but not the incredulity of such behavior in such young teens or barely teens.

If this is common place, then why are we surprised by the outlandish behavior of the teens in Before I Fall?

I wonder if the teens participating would discuss whether or not this is as large a problem as it would seem.

I read the Hunger Games and Catching Fire.  I loved them.  I can't wait for the 3rd to come out.  I read Hush Hush and enjoyed it.  I am eagerly awaiting the Percy Jackson movie.  That entire series was amazing.

I want to make sure that young people on the boards don't divulge personal information. It's easy to forget how public these online forums are.

sorry rachel, if anyone misunderstood what I wrote. I was interested in what they thought about sex at such a young age, not their particular personal experience.
