Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi there. I'm also a young adult book lover, and I'm super excited about Before I Fall. I've heard some rave reviews about it, and it definitely sounds like a not-to-be-missed read! It's also my first time participating in the First Look club, so I'll be looking forward to the discussion. (:

I have helped edit the reviews so the more I read the better I become.

Some other YA books I have loved are The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Hunger Games, Chasing FIre and The Book Thief.

However, Paul, if you find that you do not have enough of these to go around to all the teens who wish to sign up, I would gladly give up my copy and read it on my own...Unfortunately, that won't allow me to participate in the discussions which I love, but that is a small price to pay for kindness.

Perish the thought. Your copy will ship next week.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hello!  I am a 27 yr old journalism student and bookseller for my local B&N.  I work in the kids/teen section, so I read a lot of kids/YA.  I love to find out what books people are into so I can recommend them to others.  I signed up for the last Teen First Look but didn't finish in time to chat much about it (school was nutso).  I promise to do better this time around.

I just finished Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson and it was AMAZING!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

I am a young adult reader and this is my first teen book club read. I  have read all of the Gossip Girl books all of the Twilight series so it is great to have a chance to read a new teen book and new author. Hey, I just wanted you all to know that is just a few of the young adult books that I have read (smile).

My name is Gail Marie, and I love to read a lot and my house looks like a bookstore or library. Well hope I hope that I get to talk to some of you in this read. Take care and you all have a great "New Year."

Hello Hello All!

This is my natural high, the bee's knees in fact. 'What is it?' you ask? Weeelll, what are we all here for? - READING! It is one of my passions in life and something I can and will never give up. I am a bookbird, as well as everyone else here. ;0) I have also participated in other first looks (four I believe). I look forward to reading and discussing this book with everyone.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, Everyone! First, I love to read and have found enjoyment in all age levels of books. That comes in handy  with grandchildren of varying ages. :smileywink:  I appreciate good books and love to buy them for myself and my family. This book looks really good, and I hope to have the opportunity to read/discuss it with you.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be apart of the second teen first look book club. This will be my third time participating in First Look. I have a feeling that Before I Fall is going to just as good as Hush,Hush.

I love reading and right now I'm exploring all the different genres of literature. Just not poems and vampire crap.

Reading can only make you more happy and smarter. :smileyhappy:

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Wow--confirmations went out really fast this time! I'm Katie from Charlottesville, VA where I study 19th Century American literature for my day job and read a lot in a variety of genres in my free time. I've read the Twilight books more than once (although I have to say, I find them incredibly frustrating). I'm a lot more enthusiastic about other young adult titles though: the Harry Potter series, the Percy Jackson series, the Hunger Games series (really smart dystopia), and a variety of other things. I'm looking forward for the discussion to start! Thanks, as always to B&N and Lauren Oliver and everyone who helps make this amazing opportunity possible!

Hi to everyone,

Although I have participated in other First Look discussions, this will be my first young adult.  It sounds like a really interesting read.  I'm looking forward to the read and discussion.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

I come to this title from two perspectives:  a retired school librarian who read as many of the young adult novels as possible and a grandmother of six.  Three of the six are young adult readers, and I look forward to introducing them to this title and discussing it with them after we've all had our discussion here.  I'm forever suggesting novels to them - and not always the new publications.  During Christmas break they were visiting us, and I had checked out of my wonderful public library two books we couldn't get during the summer when they were here.  The oldest, a 13 year old boy, devoured The Last Olympian the first  night he was here.  I don't think he slept all night!  I totally appreciate the opportunity to read the books in First Look.  B&N has my loyalty! :smileyhappy:

Hi to all! This book looks really good! I can't wait to start! I've participated in many of the First Looks and loved them all. The other Teen First Look, Hush, Hush, was fantastic and I have no doubt this one will be just as great! Looking forward to discussing Before I Fall with all of you!
