Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

Hi Cora,  I'm glad we can be friends on here.  Keeping track of where we are in the thread is kind of confusing to me. I really like the 'quote' feature though, so at least that helps!  Having never been in a book club before, it'll be interesting to me to see how it's done with the input from readers. What kind of notes should I be keeping on the book?  I'm wondering how long it will take to get the book too. I haven't received it yet and am anxious to get started.  With Christmas and all that goes on this time of year, reading time is pressed.
It's SO windy here in Chattanooga today that all the schools are closed!! Looking out my upstairs window it looks like God is using a Giant Leaf-Blower!! All the leaves are being blown right out of our yard!  yay! lol

Hi Linda

Thank you, You are now one of my "Friends". This is going to be the best one yet...:smileywink:...I have been doing this for a while and each time I learn something new.

The list doesn't start getting really crazy until we get the book. I try to keep track of were I am with notes, haha-notes everywhere. I even take notes on books I am reading,

Hi Cora,  I found that if you click on the person's name on the left, it brings you to their page and then on the far right, there is a button that allows you to "add as friend" I think it says.  Something like that.  I added you to my friends list.  I'm looking forward to reading with everyone.  The only problem that I have is that I think I am over-extending myself on some things, especially right now, before Christmas!  There is always so much to do this month! I did get my daughter to sign up also and hope she gets in!  She loves to read too.  These boards are still a little confusing to me, but I suppose in time, it will become clearer through trial and error! :smileyhappy:  Take care!   Linda

Sounds amazing.  Can't wait to start.  Have been reading a lot of history but am ready for a good love story.  This one looks like just the ticket.

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

Hi Linda

It snows in the Northern Valley of California maybe once a decade, and it got cold enough a few nights ago. My grandkids loved. It is melted now but less then a half hour up the road we can find more. Beautiful sight.

PaulH will let the group know when the books are shipped and a reading schedule will be posted. Most of us stick to the schedule so we don't throw any spoilers out there in our posts. Some of us read the whole book at once. It's a choice. I use to read the whole book at once but found it easier to stick to the schedule.

As for notes that I keep...anything of interest to me. The posts and new subjects will lead you on your way.

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

Good morning Cora!  Thanks for answering!  Northern California sounds like Chattanooga!  We rarely see snow, except in the higher elevations, up on the mountains.  Once in a while, we'll get a very light dusting!  I'm from Illinois, up near the Great Lakes, so I miss snow in December! Thanks for the info about the reading schedule and Paul informing us when the books will be shipped.  I thought they'd be shipped by now since discussions start Jan. 4th according to what I read.  I'm glad to hear we'll have a schedule to stick to since I was afraid the whole book had to be read by January 4th!!  With Christmas and shopping and parties, etc., I was concerned about being able to do it. You've been a great help for a newby!  Thanks!

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

I am excited for this FirstLook pick! I have to say I like the different types of books that have been picked. I like venturing out from my what I would normally pick, and then being able to recommend it to friends and family. This is such a great club!

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

Regret that I wasn't able to participate in the discussion until now (and I realize it's pretty much over.) Computer problems, work, and a "bug" kept me away. But I DID enjoy the book! Plan to look for others by the author.

I have a graduate degree in English, with a concentration in Folklore, so it was interesting how those elements were woven into the narrative of the book.A definite page-turner that kept me interested in the outcome, though I had a pretty good sense of the ending just from the beginning. The descriptions of places and things made me feel like I was there. Kudos to Mr. Monninger. I will be looking for other titles by him in B & N.

Hopefully, the next "First Look" things will be "normal" in my life! Love the chance to read new works.
