Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

PaulH. This book sounds really good. Looks like we will have to have plenty of tissues around as we read it. I love books where the characters find their true loves. I am hoping for a happy ending.

Can't wait for it to come.

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

Oh my.... you both sound so much like me!! I too, have a full shelf of BTBR (books to be read)!!  I can't pass them up if I see one that sounds good, even though I know I probably won't get to it for a while. I do love books!  I "think" i would like an EReader, but not sure, because I love the feel, smell and look of a good hardback!  But it would be more convenient to carry with on shopping or doctor visit days or just anytime you have to sit and wait.  My purse is so heavy now, I hate to add a heavy book to it also and think an EReader would be good for that.  Looking so forward to discussing our first book together!

I just finished reading "a big little life: a memoir of a joyful dog" by Dean Koontz and it was WONDERFUL! I'm definitely going to have to look for "Home Waters" PaulH!

Do you mind telling what you are writing? Will we see you in the First Look category some day?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for asking but there isn't much to tell right now, I have only three characters so far, and it will be fiction, and have some romance. I'm late in life coming to reading/writing and after reading Under the Sea-Wind I'm thinking of adding some nature writing from the foothills around were I live. So you can see it's a long ways off, and the process is fun.

The different genres I've been reading lately is inspiring me to try different types of styles. I've read my first 'historial fiction' here at FL and it gave me a different perspective of fiction. Oh, so much to learn and plenty of time to learn it in. Life is good.

And to answer your question, I wouldn't mind the publicity of First Look, sounds like a great goal,

I haven't worked on my writing now since before Thanksgiving.  I'm reviewing a copy of Union Atlantic and admit I'm having a harder time getting through that one.  It started out really good at first but now I'm kind of bogged down in it around chapters 9 and 10.  I will push through though!

I'm having trouble knowing how to navigate through these messages and making replies and finding the thread, etc. I also don't yet know how to "add friends"!  I'd like to add you and a couple others, although I'm not sure what that means when you add them.  I'm very new to this!

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

Good luck on your up coming novel.  I am dabbling in writing poetry and maybe my first short story.  It is exciting and challenging.  I am also retired and so glad I came upon FL.  Read The Postmistress and found myself so involved with the characters.  I still find myself reading sections over again.

Eternal on the Waters after watching the video brought me to tears, can't imagine what emotion I feel when reading this book.  Can't wait for it to arrive.

Thanks Paul for a wonderful selection.

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

LRH1223, I have a lot of TBR books also. I don't want an e-reader. I love the feel, small and look of a new book. Hardback of paperback I don't care. I find a way to take a book with me when I go. If I have to carry it I do. I even use a tote bag if it rains. But then I am one of those unusual women who only carry the necessary items in my purse. I don't carry extra or unnecessary stuff. I guess I am unusual in that way.

II am looking forward to this book. It sounds really good. I think we are going to need tissues for this one.

Hi Bernard of Clairvaux

I'm not sure about the adding friends but I do know,  I make sure I am signed in when reading the messages, It always starts where I left off.

I would like to be your friend maybe it is profiles page. I'll check at a later time, or let me know

LOL...I'm thinking I just have what is necessary in my purse and it is sooo heavy. And I love totes. I am always carrying a tote with a book, a suduko puzzle and a yarn project. I have a crazy collection of totes.

Cora

PS I alway have a tablet, pen and pencil but they should be so heavy.

And I forgot to tell you I have a notepad next to me when I read, I take notes on points of interest under the Subject titles.

Also a notepad when I read for the same purpose and with page #'s with points of interest.

I guess I just like to write...:smileyvery-happy:

It looks like there are a lot of fellow New Englanders here. It will be interesting to see the little piece of the world I call home through Mr. Monniger's eyes! Looking forward to the book and the great discussion that is sure to follow.

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

Hi Cora,  I found that if you click on the person's name on the left, it brings you to their page and then on the far right, there is a button that allows you to "add as friend" I think it says.  Something like that.  I added you to my friends list.  I'm looking forward to reading with everyone.  The only problem that I have is that I think I am over-extending myself on some things, especially right now, before Christmas!  There is always so much to do this month! I did get my daughter to sign up also and hope she gets in!  She loves to read too.  These boards are still a little confusing to me, but I suppose in time, it will become clearer through trial and error! :smileyhappy:  Take care!   Linda

Re: About Eternal on the Water and Joseph Monninger

While the idea of an ereader is intriguing, I like being able to hold an actual book.  Plus i pick up used books all over the place at really good prices and don't know that the price of a ebook could compete with that.  My worry too is that the light in an ereader would make it hard to fall asleep after reading before bed.

JB,

Most eReader devices like nook, KIndle, and Sony are eInk technology which means they aren't backlight.  You would use whatever light source you normally use for paper books.

Hi Linda

Thank you, You are now one of my "Friends". This is going to be the best one yet...:smileywink:...I have been doing this for a while and each time I learn something new.

The list doesn't start getting really crazy until we get the book. I try to keep track of were I am with notes, haha-notes everywhere. I even take notes on books I am reading,

Hi

I never thought of the back light keeping me awake, not that I want an ereader. I think ereaders are good for people who like to read while traveling. Otherwise, like you I pick up used books everywhere at the best prices. When I own them I can make notes in them. Sometimes its a word I don't know, or a line I really like.

I guess anything can bring up a note.

OKay, that answers the back light issue.  :smileyhappy:
