Hello! I'm Dawn - I just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and absolutely loved it! Great way to follow up our last First Look selection -The Postmistress, which was also set during the WWII era.
I can't wait to get started on our new FL selection, Eternal on the Water. It sounds great!
Dawn

Ahhhhh, books! I love them.
I have finished (and am waiting for the discussion) of the Sneak Peak selection, Truly, Madly, by Heather Weber. Right now I am reading, Healing Sands, by Nancy Rue/Stephen Arterburn.

Hi Dawn. I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society last month too after finishing the Postmistress. I borrowed it from a friend and lent her The Postmistress.
Right now I am working my way through The Vampire Diaries books.

Hi Dawn,
I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society when it first came out and took a trip to the Channel Islands a couple of months later to walk Guernsey, discussing the book with local people. At that time not too many knew about it. There is such a great deal of memoir written on the island by Islanders who survived the war, that they must have been a bit sceptical about an American woman (or two) writing about their island. Now the Guernsey web site has a map with all the locations that are mentioned in the book. http://www.visitguernsey.com/guernsey-literary-and-potato-peel-pie-society/

I'm currently reading:
And while it's a distrubing topic, I am enjoying it... I find myself caught up in the story praying that they find her body and figure out who the killer is.

Hi, I'm just finishing up Steig Larsson's third book in his Millennium series and mourning that there won't be any more
then I'm reading the Mystery book for the month The Perfect Murder and then I'll be reading the sneak peek romance book Truly Madly.
But I always have pangs during the absence of First Look so I'm glad we have another one to start up.

I just finished reading Cheri by Collette and I'm now reading I'm Down by Mishna Wolff (hilarious) as well as The Dome by Stephen King (disturbing). As well, I'm trying to get through the 4th Gabaldon book in the Voyager series, but it's a bit of a slog. I'm also hoping to read The Mistress of the Art of Death before the First Look arrives.

I just finished reading Olive Kitteridge. It is a group of short stories connected to each other by Olive, an older woman with a somewhat grumpy outlook on life
Today I am beginning to read Oryx and Crake in my book group.
And, while waiting to get started with Eternal on the Water I just ordered Joseph Monninger's Home Waters

I'm currently reading The Surrendered by Chang-Rae Lee. I've read two others by him (Native Speaker and A Gesture Life), and while I liked them I can't say they blew me away. The Surrendered has really drawn me in though, and so far I like it much better than the other two. It's about a woman who was orphaned during the Korean war, and a man who fought during said war. There's much more to it then that, but I hate to give a way any spoilers;-).

I cheated and ordered it from a UK site. It's been out there since Oct plus I love the UK cover.

Wings is what I'm currently reading.
Prophecy of the Sisters Is what I'm reading next.
Eternal on the Water sounds like a good read. (perhaps a box of chocolate and a box of tissue will be needed in preparation for this read)

The sneak peek discussions are kind of in between first looks and they'll be carried on in their particular board, for example this very first sneak peek is a romance read so it's on the romance board.

Oh wow, I just finished Steig Larsson's second book for my local book club and LOVED it. We are set to meet and discuss it next week. I will have to try and secure the third one.

I totally agree, Suzi. It's just not the same when we aren't together discussing books. LOL
