I have the 7th Diana Gabaldon book started but can't seem to keep moving. I loved all of the other ones but so far I keep putting this one down to read other things, usually library books with due dates. i think I do better with due dates because it keeps me focused!

I have read the first, second and forth books of the Outlander series. I did not intentionally skip book 3. When I was younger I bought the 4th book because I liked the cover. I know, don't judge a book by its cover. My defense is that I was a young teen at that time. I loved the book and before I was half way through I noticed I had been missing some background information on many of the characters. That is when I read the covers and saw it was a series. Well this past year I finally got around to reading the first 2 and have the 3rd on but am waiting for a good time to read it. I have school and a demanding family that makes reading long books difficult.

Wow! that must have been an amazing trip! Thanks very much for this link to the Web site too. It is very beautiful. I would be very interestd in reading those memoirs.

Hi Dawn,I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society when it first came out and took a trip to the Channel Islands a couple of months later to walk Guernsey, discussing the book with local people. At that time not too many knew about it. There is such a great deal of memoir written on the island by Islanders who survived the war, that they must have been a bit sceptical about an American woman (or two) writing about their island. Now the Guernsey web site has a map with all the locations that are mentioned in the book. http://www.visitguernsey.com/guernsey-literary-and-potato-peel-pie-society/

I can't wait to get started on our new FL selection, Eternal on the Water. It sounds great!

I loved the Time Traveler's Wife! the book was much better than the movie (as usual!)
Frostbacksgirl wrote:I just finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife which was very good. I recommend it to anyone. It's a bit hard to keep up with the different dates/ages but very good.
I also finished the sixth book in the House of Night series: Tempted. Oh it's a fascinating series, I couldn't put it down.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Thought I'd let you know that while we await "Eternal on the Water", I am reading a novel by Theodore Odrach, entitled "Wave Of Terror". It is a great read, dealing with the Red Army's invasion of Belarus in 1939.

I read the Outlander books over long periods of time, reading other books at the same time. Drums of Autumn took me four months! I just kept "dipping into it" as I had time.
Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.

The Outlander series isn't a series I had thought about. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for mentioning it. I've another bunch of books added to my pile, now. ![]()

Meme,
I read that for a book club and we discussed that it did seem that the last few chapters were a different writing style. We thought maybe it had to do with the death of the author?

I'm currently reading a couple of books. Under The Dome by Stephen King and Secrets of a Christmas Box by Steven Hornby. I'm also listening to Candor by Pam Bachorz.

I also went to the library on Sunday and took out No Time to Wave Goodbye by Jacquelyn Mitchard. It's a sequel of sorts to The Deep End of the Ocean, which I read about 10 years ago.

I loved The Deep End Of The Ocean and No Time To Wave Goodbye. I was always hoping to find out what happened to the Cappadora family. I was thrilled to hear there was a sequel. I really enjoyed it. I hope you do too Carolyn.
Right now I am reading Fallen by Lauren Kate and then I will be reading Truly Madly.

Debbie - I read Truly, Madly over the weekend and it is wonderful. I'm glad that there are sequels but bummed to have to wait for them. How is The Perfect Murder?
Right now I am reading a book called Christmas Spirit by Amy Garvey and enjoying it quite a lot. After that I will read Kindred in Death by J.D. Robb. I just picked it up from the library. I love this series, too.

Hi Sheri, I loved Kindred in Death it's one of her best. I'm really liking Perfect Murder even though I just started. I've been reading all the posts about Truly Madly and I'm excited to be starting it next.

"Kindred" wasn't one of my favorites. I'm not sure I would put it in my top 10. But, then again, that's one of the things that makes ID so great. (I think "Creation" is my favorite, if I had to name just one.)
