Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. On May 1, we’re saying goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Hi, I'm Sara. This is the first time I've done the First Look. I was just married this past June, and now my husband Brian and I are expecting our first child. I work for the local telephone company. I'm addicted to books, and read whenever I get a spare moment. I can't wait to be able to discuss this book.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi Everyone,

I'm Sheila and I live in Central NJ, about 45 minutes outside of NYC.  This will be my third First Look book.  Under This Unbroken Sky and The Postmistress were my first two.  I just finished reading Truly, Madly for the Sneak Peek Club.  I usually don't read romance novels, but I'm glad I signed up for Truly, Madly.  The book was just so enjoyable.  I look forward to receiving my copy of Eternal on the Water and discussing it with everyone.  It should arrive just as the Truly, Madly club ends.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Rachel and I moderate FL. I hope all our newbies see how welcoming our regulars are and jump right in. I'm really looking forward to Eternal on the Water! The writing is lovely and I think it's going to stir great discussions.

I live in North Carolina with my daughters and a big wonderful slobbery dog who thinks he's also a six year old girl. I have too many books and too much yarn--and I haven't figured out how to handle both at the same time yet. Any pointers?

I'm also a librarian, so I do in person book clubs and book talks, too.

Can't wait to get started!

Rachel

Welcome to the group, Sydney! I hope your book doesn't get stuck at school. <grin> That would be torture! :smileyhappy:

This is my first First Look and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a Middle School teacher (29 years now!!) in Oklahoma. I asked for my book to be shipped to school, so I hope it arrives before we're out for Winter Break. Otherwise, I'll be reading profusely on the 4th so I can be ready to discuss!!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi everyone............I've been a First Looker for awhile and find it highly addicting.:smileyhappy:

Just recently married in October and so had 3 boys and added 2 girls...........throw in a cat and dog for good measure and we are now a well rounded family!!!

Looking forward to turning the pages in front of a cozy fire on what I'm sure will be many upcoming winter days here in middle Tennessee.

Can't wait to dig in and start hearing all the thoughts and ideas others have as well! ENJOY!!!

I know!! I want to read and re-read it over break.

My "live and in person" book club is meeting today after school (we're all teachers and librarians in the 50+ age range) and I'm going to invite them here to come along for the ride, tool.

Our topic today is, "What are you reading now? Would it be good for the group?" We also read all the Sequoyah nominees, since we hope our students will do the same.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

I am Leona from Florida and am looking forward to reading another First Look book with all of you. I'm a retired teacher and love to travel, especially to Maine where the book takes place.  This story sounds very good, combining personal struggles with nature.  Thanks for this opportunity!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

It is great to share B&N with friends. My husband and some other close friends have already registered for the discussion. Once hooked, they have moved to other places in the B&N book club arena.  :smileywink:
