Kiakar,
Have you read The Autobiography of Henry VIII, by Margaret George? An excellent historical fiction novel if you are into that period. She also wrote The Memoirs of Cleopatra which was also wonderful. Even though these books are historical "fiction," her research and historical accuracy make the novels even more intriguing!
Thanks Thayer; I will put them on my list. I love novels about past history especially English history about queens and so forth. And the cleopatra one sounds good also. I mostly have read Phillippa Gregory'snovels about the Henry th e eighth history. I loved all of them.
I also enjoy Philippa Gregory. Have you read the Wideacre series by her? It's what first got me into the author. The trilogy was her first, and in my opinion, her best work!

No Angel
I adore Penny Vincenzi...read all three in the No Angel trilogy in quick succession. Recently purchased one of her newer novels but haven't gotten to it yet. Aaaah, so many books, so little time!

I recently bought "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory. I haven't read it yet. I'm looking forward to getting to it eventually, though.

No, I haven't read the wideacre series of Phillippa Gregory but I do have it in my pile to read. Thanks for the green light on them, can't wait to get to them.

Today, it's George Washington Cable's Old Creole Days.
I may or may not have several Star Wars novelizations out of the library out the moment. On my more serious shelves, I've got Lauren Groff's collection of short stories, Delicate Edible Birds, and Sister Carrie, Tell My Horse (Zora Neale Hurston), and Emmanuel Appodocca (Maxwell Philip--a 19th C buccaneer story).

I think Jodi Picoult is a great author and I love her books. I have read "Nineteen Minutes" and "Change of Heart".
My first was The Pact which was good and I loved Change of Heart as well. Second glance is a bit different but I absolutely love it and can't wait to be finished today to see how it all glues together....

I am reading a 19th century mystery classic - King Solomon's Mines by H Rider Haggard.
Interesting, but takes a while to get used to the stilted language. Still worth the read.

If you are enjoying that, you might really like Lady Audley's Secret - it's a 19th c. classic mystery and I'm so glad I came across it. It's actually a really easy read as it was originally published as a serial.
Cheers,
Amanda

Welcome adopted1!
The confirmations come in waves. The first wave has started and we'll probably receive confirmations for the next week or so. It looks to me like there are still openings, since the registration is still open. Confirmations will probably continue as long as there are openings. I hope this helps!

Hi comm room,
This has been bothering me for awhile and I've been trying to work it through but I think I need help.
I just don't get Tags. I just do not see the value in them. What possible purpose do they serve (other than having the most and getting your name on the board)?
Has anyone else found them to be useful?![]()

What a coincidence! I just posted this same question on the main Community Room page. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is trying to figure this one out. Likely we're missing something. Others seem to find them helpful.
Soon we'll understand and be on board with all the taggers! LOL

Definitely worth the read. No a "great book" but a great adventure story.
If you like Haggard, you will probably also like John Buchan, particularly his Richard Hannay stories.

Actually, no, I haven't found them useful myself. But if others do, more power to them.

I am (originally) from the greater Boston area, born and raised in Cambridge, and now living in Missouri. I have heard stories all of my life about Salem and also have had the opportunity to visit while growing up. I look forward to the read and the discussion.
Again, Thank You. Karen

Hey Suzi, great minds think alike......right?! I'll check the main board too and see if someone responds to your question. In the meantime, I have an idea circling around in the ole' cranial cavity. I'm going to tag these responses as re: useful tags and see what happens. Stay tuned.....
