I am behind in my reading so I'm not quite ready to actually post a review, but  I wanted to say that I am thoroughly enjoying this book. The witch trials are of particular interest to me, so that's a plus. The characters are rich and well constructed and the mystery is there, the hunt is on, and I am anxious to find the answer to all my questions. This is a really good read.

I just finished my review.    This being my first one was a daunting task.  Trying not to sound like an idiot, (I'm a READER, not a writer) without giving anything away, letting potential readers know about First Look, and of course trying to convey how good an author Katherine Howe is.

I posted my review a couple of days ago, but was not able to reply on the forum at that time. (There appears to have been some glitch in the system at the time.) I finished the book up and was pleased with the way that things were explained by the end of the book. I won't say more for fear of spoiling it for someone else!

I have not finished the book yet as I am trying to stick with the schedule. I am finding it difficult to not read ahead. I was able to write my review anyway. It was a little intimidating being my first review but I wanted others to know what a great book this is. I can't wait to finish the book and to read more from Katherine Howe.

Posted April 12, 2009, 12:31 PM EST: Katherine Howe has written a gripping story about witches and her family that may not have been a myth. It is a page turner thriller into the dark secrets of witchcraft that may or may not have existed in the 1600's. I thought it was an excellent story as well as a fast read. I couldn't put it down. Hopefully I will be reading more novels by Katherine Howe. I would recommend this to my friends and family.

I would like  to add that this is my third first look book I have read so far.

This first look book was the book I have been looking for in all of  my  reading life, this is it! It was so descriptive in detail of every aspect  of this story. What a writer! Wow! A new Classic has been born I am postive. I will look forward to seeing this on the best seller list and the #1 list and any other list for best books ever.  And I hope she writes many more books.  Linda

I have not finished reading the book yet, but I will most definitely write a review when I finish!  I have already told a number of friends about the book and they are "patiently" waiting for me to finish so that I can pass it along.  It is hard to believe that this is a debut novel.
