Significance of 1991 time for Connie?

I am wondering if there is any significance to the 1991 time for Connie's portion of the story.  I only wonder if there is something to come, because the story seems to specify very clearly the year beign 1991.  I was thinking that the modern day portion of the story could have been set anywhere from the late 70's to current day, academia-wise.  I have not completed the story yet, so I am just guessing, but perhaps I am grasping at something that is only intended to seperate between Connie's and Deliverance Dane's time periods.  Can anyone tell me if I am reading too much into the year on Connie's portion of the story without including any spoilers?

Hi Stewies_Mom  =)  This question came up in our conversation with Katherine Howe. Here is a link to her reply. You can find lots of great information from her posts at the second link. I hope you enjoy the book!

Anytime  :smileyhappy:  One of the things I love about FL, Center Stage, etc., is the opportunity to talk to the author. I am often amazed by their answers. LOL
