After the Party: Thanks to Paul, Charlie and the group!

So, after the guests and hosts are teetering out of the party you've all thrown for Paul, I want to make sure we get a last chance to say thanks! This was new experience for our First Look group, and it was obviously a great hit with us. So, to Paul Doiron, thanks for your wonderful novel, and thanks joining us. We're looking forward to reading your next books together, too. Please get them on the bookshelves quickly.

And, Charlie, thanks so much for your work to bring Poacher's Son to us, and for taking time to respond to our questions and comments!

As always, thanks to our new and old First Look crowd. A lovely bunch of readers!

Thanks for a great read, Paul, and also for a very interesting month. I'm going to recommend this to my brother in Vermont - I'm sure he'll like it as much as I did.

Good luck with that cast line-up, BTW!

Re: After the Party: Thanks to Paul, Charlie and the group!

Thanks Paul, it was great. I really enjoyed the novel and I'm sure many many people will. Hope you come back to talk to us about the second in the series.

Charlie thank you for all your words of wisdom.

Thanks Rachel for the as always outstanding moderating job.

Thanks to Paul H for taking care of us all and especially now when it seemed like the B&N book clubs were crashing and burning with all the sign in demons needing to be exorcized.

And thanks to all the FLers, as usual you really made it fun.

Good luck Paul

Re: After the Party: Thanks to Paul, Charlie and the group!

First, many thanks to the team at B&N who work to enable us to read these First Look books. You all are awesome, and we are grateful!

Paul D.- thank you for your fabulous book. The only reason I didn't finish it in one sitting is because I wanted to keep to the schedule. I enjoyed reading your responses to our questions and thank you for your time! I can't wait for your next book and will continue to follow you on your website, etc.

Charlie - thank you for your work in bringing Paul's book to readers everywhere and for the time you spent with us.

Rachel - thank you for your great questions. You bring so much to our discussions!!

our Paul - thank you for reading, reading, reading! and for your time and energy.

to my fellow participants - thank you for your thoughtful responses and discussion. I get so much more from these discussions because of you! Keep reading everyone!  :smileywink:

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Thank you Paul for letting test drive it for you. I think everyone will agree that the book was a fabulous and thought provoking book. And thanks to Charlie for his work in getting the book published. Thanks go to Rachel who really had some interesting questions and to Pual Hochman, who picked this mystery for the First Look club. A very suspense laden read!

Many thanks to Rachel for the thought-provoking discussion questions!  Reading a book like this is such a joy, but it's often hard to just sit down and write thoughts about what happened and our reaction.  Having  good starters really helps to clarify what we want to say.

I'd just like to say that I believe that Paul has a bright future.  You are a wonderful author with a lot of insight into your story.  Thank you so much for allowing us to read your baby, and I am eagerly awaiting the next installment.

Re: After the Party: Thanks to Paul, Charlie and the group!

Paul D,

It is such a pleasure to have an author, such as yourself, allow us to experience your book before the rest of the world.  What an incredible experience to "meet" you and be able to discuss your work.  You were so quick to reply to everyone's posts/questions and stayed involved throughout the month.  Maine has always been a special place to me (a peaceful retreat into nature and times gone by), but it has been way too long since I have been able to return.  Thank you for bringing a piece of the wilderness back to me.  I cannot wait to read your other books!

Paul, Rachel, and Everyone at B&N,

Thank you so much for making all of this possible.  Like Paul D. stated on another post, I often find myself wondering if there is another post or what people are saying now.  The First Look club has become an addiction for me that I miss when I don't always have the time to join in the discussions as often as I'd like to.  Please keep the wonderful books coming!!

Fellow Readers,

The boards would not be the same without all of your questions, responses, and insights into each and every book.  Many of you, I feel as if I know personally after sharing several books with you, and it is always great to see new readers join the group!  I appreciate all of your thoughts and honesty in regards to anything and everything that is being discussed.  I am thrilled to be part of this group and hope to continue to be long into the future!

Thanks, Everyone!!

Aimee

Re: After the Party: Thanks to Paul, Charlie and the group!

Thank you Paul H. for choosing a great book for the First Look Club.  Thank you Rachel for the inspiring questions and threads.

Thank you Charlie for your faith in Paul Doiron and thank you Paul Doiron for writing such a refreshing book with a great tale and interesting characters.  I look forward to many more of your books starring Mike Bowditch.

I have and will continue to recommend your book/books.

My husband is currently reading this book too.  It is really neat discussing it with him too.  He loves it too.  He finishes a chapter and then has to discuss it with me.  It's all I can do to stay mum about the ending.  LOL!  My husband is a tough cookie to sell on a book..he's loving this book of yours.

Re: After the Party: Thanks to Paul, Charlie and the group!

It's been a great and unique experience, being involved in this First Look book club. I really appreciate it, and want to thank Paul H for his ability in picking truly interesting and unique books for us; Rachel for her very thought-provoking questions and all of my fellow FL'ers for your comments that add so much to the story for me. . . it gives me a perspective I wouldn't otherwise have about characters and content.  Everything combined really makes for a wonderful experience for me.

And to Paul D and Charlie. . . it's been so good getting the story behind the story; intent and motives, backgrounds on the characters.   Thank you for spending so much time with us.

Thanks to everyone.

Re: After the Party: Thanks to Paul, Charlie and the group!

The Poacher's Son was a great read.  It took me into the Maine-side and then into a mystery at the same time.

I held back a sigh while I smiled when Charlie was found on the small island, felt justification when Mike presented the "rope burns" to his father.  A point which I felt, indicated the son had indeed become the better trapper.

It was not a book I would have picked up, however I have certainly recommended it to others about it.  I am awaiting the next book by Paul.

Thanks again, for a book well worth the read.
