One of the best books I have read this year. This book drew me into the words, took me to the back woods and I saw the people, the camp. It showed how we all would be too close to a situation that what is right before our eyes is blind. I look forward to more books by Paul Doiron. The words were poetry and put you into the picture. I can't say enough good about this book. A great read.

Review this book on BN and Goodreads. Recommended it to everyone! I tried to do it on Amazon, but there wasn't a link for reviews yet. Thanks for letting me participate in this book club. I love First Look! It has really widened my reading circle![]()

I posted my review a few days ago but had trouble getting into the site after that, I couldn't seem to make the reply option work. This is the review on my blog:
http://bookbookseverywhere.blogspot.com/2010/03/po
and it is also on the Barnes and Noble site as well.
I really enjoyed this book and it brought me back to mysteries which were my first favorite genre (Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon were the best back them in second grade!). Thanks for such a great pick! I'll have to check the announcements for the next FL, hope I haven't already missed it!

This book was my first experience with the First Look Club. With The Poachers Son, I felt that I was reading more of a book on family dynamics than a true mystery. I was disappointed in the fact that I basically figured out "who really done it" too soon into the book. The book in total though is a good book that gives a look into family dynamics. I see this book as a sounding board for classroom discussion of familial relationships and respect. I do want to visit Maine though. The descriptions of the scenery made the area come to life.

Paul, you have been a wonderful (and fun) guest author and a very active participant in our discussions. You have definitely enlightened us with the "behind the scenes" making of your book. Maybe we'll even see some of our suggestions in the coming books. Good luck. It's been a great experience all around.

Paul,
Your suggestion on how to post worked. In previous FL's, I copied the link before posting and that might have made the difference. Thanks.

This well written mystery is a thriller from beginning to end. The story includes interesting characters, drama and action. I am ready to read the sequel as soon as it is published. Paul Doiron is now on my list of favorite authors.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a little tough reading it over the course of a month, but worth it. It was a little disappointing as a "mystery", but a good story nonetheless - interesting enough with a "WOW" factor at the end. I posted my review on the BN site, also on my blog Tutu's Two Cents, and on LibraryThing where I posted not only on the book page itself, but on the two different book groups I participate in.
