Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, I'm Susanne also from very cold Western MA.  Looking forward to rejoining FL after being away for the last two books for various reasons.  Mysteries are right up my alley and looking forward to discussing the book with all of you.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi! I'm Beth and I live in snowy Wisconsin. I believe this is my tenth First Look book. It has been alot of fun reading and comparing thoughts with others here. I used to enjoy Nancy Drew and Agatha Christie growing up but then moved away from mysteries. Last year I picked up a few mystery/suspense books and have been enjoying them. I'm trying to read more of an assortment of books this year. I'm looking forward to reading The Poacher's Son.

Paul you do have a dream job! And you do a wonderful job picking out great books for us! Thank you so much!

Beth

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, I'm Judy.  Another avid reader here!  I love this book club because it has given me the chance to find read some great books and authors that I wouldn't ordinarily select on my own.  I love being part of this discussion group.  It's made reading the books a richer experience.

Although I don't read a lot of mysteries, this latest FL pick looks interesting.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi! I am Luanne from Minnesota. I love to read with my dogs sitting by me.

I am really glad that we have a mystery as a selection.

Paul thank you for finding us a mystery/thriller.

Minnesota has a lot of local authors writing mysteries/thrillers. It must be the long winters.

I get to hear some of the authors speak and sign books, which gives new insight into the book.

And now I will hear from an author from Maine.

Here is a link to Paul Doiron's website.

I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.

Well, Melissa, other than the darning of tights, I think you've listed al the good things in life!  LOL!  Well, maybe dogs!  Funny, I've noticed a lot of the readers here seem to also have a "yarn connection".

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi All,

I can't wait to read this book! It has been awhile since I've been in the first look forum, and I look forward to communicating with all of you.

I live in Idaho, and have been reading mysteries for about 5 years.  My friends and family are big mystery fans, and they introduced me to this genre.  Now I can't get enough of it!

My name is Laura and I am a diehard mystery/thriller fan. I am a 911 Operator for the City of Houston and currently reside in Conroe, Texas.  I have participated in several First Look discussions & I am thrilled to participate in this one, looks like it is going to be a great book! Living in Texas, I am familiar with Game Wardens and it will be interesting to see how the book portrays them.

Hello everyone,

My name is Claire and this will be my first, FL discussion. I am a fan of all kinds of books, but I am really into things that have to do with the supernatural. Mystery books are also one of my favorite genres. I am from Pensacola, FL home of some of the United States most beautiful beaches. I look forward to discussing this novel with you!

Paul,

Your initial post here brings up a question I have had, but keep forgetting to ask the moderators.

Who picks the selections?  Just wondering if the moderators have a list to select from or how that works?

Well, I hope it's not become mundane!  The rest of us, no doubt, are quite envious, so we'd like to picture you smiling!  :smileywink:

Hi to all..I am VermontCozy, Susan...I am so glad that so many signed up..Mystery"s were my first Introduction to reading."Nancy Drew"..she did rock my world, just couldn't get enough. Then as time went on 'Agatha Christie"..of course..My mom and sister were great fans of her novels...We are all in agreement that 'The Poacher's Son..will be a satisfying Book..Oh, Paul has little Elves helping him..,Penelope,(P) Aiden(A)Ursulla(U)Liam(L)....Not really, but I thought it was fun to post..To chose Books for us and I mean this sincerely,is quite an  Art...I cannot imagine "Thinking outside such a vast Box" and then be secure that it will work..Thanks Paul....

Hi, I'm Katie in Charlottesville, Virginia. I've participated in most of the First Look discussions and have made a point of reading the other First Look selections (my favorites have been

The Monsters of Templeton,

The House at Riverton,

The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane, and

Under This Unbroken Sky. Of those four, I only got to participate in Deliverance Dane, so that might say something about the way I'm picking which ones to sign up for! I'm really looking forward to a murder mystery First Look. This genre is one of my favorites. Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers are some of my favorite mystery authors, although recently I've been enjoying Margaret Frazer's and Jacqueline Winspear's work.

Oh, half the fun of these groups is seeing what everyone is reading and getting tons of ideas for the TBR (to be read) list!

Thanks for reminding me of a couple I already had on that list!
