Re: Trouble signing in

I'm having the same trouble!!! I also didn't like the font size. Too small for my short sight.

Re: What are you reading now?

JerseyAngel - Thanks for the welcome.  So far, so good.  I can't believe how nice everyone has been.  This part of the state is so green (I know that sounds funny, but after living in CA for 9 years, it is refreshing)!

I had the same problem, and solved it with he same solution. Yikes. I hope it gets fixed quickly.

I'm Cathy from south of Boston, and I have been so pleased with this First Look Club. I have become a better reader, with a more diverse selection of books since I joined the First Look. I have been on BN for a long time. I took a lot of courses with it and learned a lot.  But I really enjoy First Look.

Thanks, Donna, that certainly helped a lot. Does anybody know what happened to the dashboard? It probably went by the wayside because it was just too easy.

Re: Trouble signing in

I'm not sure, but the Dashboard may be located in "My Profile" now, at least some of it.

Re: Trouble signing in

I can't find the Dashboard. I tried My Profile and didn't see it there either.

Not sure if I miss it. The numbers for laurels and tags were different than under my pen name.

It confused me, one place that is accurate is nice.

Re: Trouble signing in

[ Edited ]

I was trying to find the yellow envelope because I got an email that I had a private message. Finally after reading here I found out that only by hitting the reply button on one of the postings was I really logged in. Then was able to find the envelope and opened my private message and found that lovely word "Confirmed"!

Happy! Happy! But what a chore to find the envelope! Hopefully the techs will find the fix!

Re: Community Room

Conroy's writing is so beautiful that just looking at the sentences is a treat for me. You'll have to keep me posted on what you think as your reading progresses. His books are ones that I love to reread. My husband is reading it now.

Re: What are you reading now?

Great idea!  I also love the book suggestions I find here.

I  highly recommend the two books I finished in the past week:

"Outtakes from A Marriage" by Ann Leary - This book is very funny and well-written.  Reading it was like watching a Woody Allen movie.  It's a real gem.

"The Final Selection: A Story of Detection" by Michael Chabon - This book is very unusual and quirky.  It's a quick read and very interesting.  The ending is outstanding!

Hi Everyone,

One of the things I love about the B&N book clubs is the book suggestions I find. So, in honor of that, I thought I would ask what everyone was reading now and what you might be planning to read while awaiting our new FL book. I am finishing up "The Help," and "Fearless" right now. I have so many on my TBR list that I haven't decided what is next yet. Maybe "The Poe Shadow" or something by Agatha Christie. What about you?

I just received an ARC of "the possibility of everything" by Hope Edelman (motherless daughters) but I'm going to wait to start reading it until I find out if I'm picked for  THe Postmistress.

I LOVE Agatha Christie books!  I go to this place that sells secondhand books (it's kind of like a Salvation Army) and I found several of them and rediscovered my love of a good mystery.  I just got through reading And Then There Were None and I'll start on The Murder of Roger Ackroyd soon.  I also love to watch the Agatha Christie murder mysteries on PBS.

I'm also still trying to get through The Grapes of Wrath.  I really really like it, but for some reason I keep procrastinating on finishing it.

By the way, DSaff, I think you're such a nice person!  You make a point of welcoming all the newcomers to the club.  You're awesome!

Thank you, Impmn. I love this place!  :smileywink:   I have a large collection of Agatha Christie books from my grandmother and am always trying to find the missing ones. We love David Suchet as Poirot but haven't seen the other ministries yet. Miss Marple is next. :smileyhappy:

Donna, if you can't find older editions of books try paperbackswap or Alibris.

What are you reading now?

To DSaff - you are such a nice person.  And thank you for having the idea of sharing what we are reading now.

Thanks to everyone for ideas - my wish list grew by leaps and bounds the past few days.

I am still obsessively reading  "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon.  Unusual for me to fit in 400 + pages of recreational reading along with my work reading in four days!

I am really looking forward to receiving "The Postmistress" (hooray I received that lovely "Confirmed" response) and sharing thoughts with such interesting people.

I completely empathize with you.  I was on the phone last night with my daughter for half an hour, with each of us logged into B&N, trying to get her signed in.  It finally worked and hopefully she will get her confirmation.
