I posted my review on the product page but forgot to copy the link. Paul, or anyone else, is there any way to get it back?
Thank you Barnes & Noble for chosing this book, Bruce for writing it and everyone else for a great discussion.

I posted my review at:
http://my.barnesandnoble.com/communityportal/revie
The book is written beautifully, with vivid descriptions, complex vocabulary, and poetic language. However, I struggled to finish the book. The back and forth of the time periods and indistinct flashbacks were confusing and disrupted the story flow. I was disgusted by the harsh descriptions of animal cruelty and disturbed by the dark characters who tortured their own kinfolk and neighbors.
This book is definitely different from other books on my shelf.

Not my most positive review. I may change it if I can finish the book.

but, I love being able to participate in FL. I would have probably picked this to read because of the cover, but would not have been happy to have had bought it.

My Review.
Oh and I absolutely LOVE the cover! That alone would have made me pick the book up.

This is a book that I had a hard time getting into. It was confusing for me to keep skipping the years back and forth. It was interesting to the point of how a father can treat his son as horses and have no remorse.
How land was a precious commodity and how the length to get more was handled.
I don't think that this is one book that I would have chosen for a causal read, but since the ability to read something outside of my usually reading subject was put before me, I had an adventure. I will be looking forward to more First Look books in the future, and more things outside of my norm.
