Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. On May 1, we’re saying goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Greetings!  I just put in a request to participate. Think it would be fun to be chosen. I am a single, childless female in her mid thirties living in the Midwest. I work in the medical field and obviously love to read! I've never been in a book club before and have always wanted to join one, so this really seems like an interesting opportunity! Although this does not define me, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May and celebrated my one month surgery anniversary yesterday. My prognosis is excellent and will start radiation mid to late August. I have cleared my calendar of all non work related items, but I know that I can participate in this!

Welcome!!  I know you will enjoy the camaraderie of this group.  Wonderful that you have willingly shared yourself to us. Good wishes to you as you begin this part of your life!

I am part of a whole; Part 1 is the main "power reader" in the house & as Part 2 of 2 I read leisurely when possible.  By the way Part 1 is the Nook owner & I sneak peek at new titles often, what is not to love about that NOOK?  My first book read on it was completed in less than 48 hours; I love the convenience of the Nook. This is too my FIRST of the First Look Book Club, as a matter of fact first time ever with a book club online.

I work at suppressing the fires of life, literally.  I enjoy free time, which really doesn't exist.  I like stories that involve crafts, hobbies, and things I can relate to, animals, gardening, knitting, quilting mysteries, arts, travel, etc.

I just became grammy to twins!  I have 2 grown daughters & now 4 grandbabies.

Hi everyone,

My name is Peggy and I live near Baltimore, MD.  This is the first time I'm joining in on First Look but as soon as I saw a horse on the cover of "The Wake of Forgiveness", I had to read it. I have  books all over my house so I really don't 'need' anymore but I always want more.

I am a graphic designer in California, and a single Mom to a daughter in college. I try to read as much as possible when time allows, it's one of my passions. I tend to be quiet in group discussions such as these, but love to listen to the interaction among others and especially when it relates to books. But I'll do my best to be actively involved :smileyhappy:

Can't wait to receive my copy, and I look forward to enjoying the days ahead with all of you!

This is my first attempt at doing something like this and I'm excited to (hopefully) participate.  I love to read and always look for new authors to try.  I think the only time I ever had to discuss a book is during an English class and those were never books I was reading for pleasure.  I'm sure this will be a better experience.:smileyvery-happy:

Welcome!!  I am sure that this will be much more fun than assigned reading!  Well- I guess this is a sort of 'assigned' reading, but enjoyable and by choice!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi Kittysmom...Bridget (my rescue cat) would like you.

She was grown when I picked her up, 2 months after my husband passed. The "cat rescue lady" told me she had been brought back twice because of shyness.

We matched up perfectly and she befriends everyone that walks in the door. Not a watch cat, she wants to play.

It's good to meet you, too. Looking forward to discussion.

Hello all! I'm Juliet, a stay at home mommy of two kids (8 years old and 4 years old). This will (hopefully) be my first FL participation. I recently quit my job of 12 years to stay home and homeschool my kids, so this will be perfect for some "me" time. I look forward to getting to know you all. I've never met another avid reader I didn't like.

Hi, my name is Darcy and I live in Portland, Oregon.  I retired last fall and have been able to devote a LOT more time to one of my passions - reading.  I belong to a book club that a friend and I started six years ago, and this seems like a fun way to appease that book club addiction of mine.  I'm totally new to this, but ready for anything.  Admittedly, the temptation of getting a new book for a "first look" was too much to resist and I'm looking forward to finding new discoveries in my mailbox each month - and new bibliophile friends at the B&N Community.

Re: My Intro

Hi everyone.

My name is Tarri and I live in Washington state.  I retired from the phone company in 2003 and love to read.  I missed the last couple of First Look books because I don't have a Nook *insert very sad face* and then my computer broke and I missed the sign up.  But I'm back with a brand new, high speed Gateway and I'm ready for this selection.
