Hi

My name is Jenny and I live in Hickory, NC. I'm married with 3 kids and work part time. I enjoy reading a variety of books. This is my 3rd 1st look book. I liked the first one, really didn't like the second one and have not decided on this one yet. I'll look forward to hearing what other people have to say about it.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Christina and I am from Long Island, NY. I love the FL discussions and I am really looking forward to this new pick. I was just engaged and I am starting to plan a wedding which has managed to take up a lot of my time. So, I really enjoy picking up a great book and getting lost in it!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, I'm a 40 something mom to 4 boys ages 12-18. I am looking forward to joining in these discussions. I'm not so thrilled with this story so far but I'm not too far into it yet. I find it kind of "flat". Maybe it will perk up and I'll actually like a character or two in it. Thanks for a place to leave feedback for these things.

Hi! My name is Laura. I am a mother of two teens and one two year old and one on the way.  I love the First Look Club and being able to read these books that I wouldn't read otherwise. It is really expanding the types of books that I read. I have enjoyed most of the books that has been sent and am looking forward to this one also.

Hi all, I am Paige from Texas.  I am excited to read this First Look Book!  I am a Technology Manager at a middle school, and I have a Reading and Social Studies teaching certification.  I love to read and read all the time.  During college I did my student teaching in a Texas History class, so I love to read books that are set in Texas.  I am about half way through this book and I am really enjoying it.  Can't wait to come back and give a full review!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Since this is my first First Look book, I just found the discussion board for this book! Finally! So, now I scramble to make up for lost time. Now that I know, next time I will be on time. Anyway, I love books and spend any free hours in my private library. I am a professional artist, I teach fifth grade, and  run and teach the string program at my school. I so want to write, but, as you can see, time is the commodity that I least possess. Anyway, I am so glad to have finally found all of you and I am grateful for this opportunity!!!

Sincerely,

Sandra

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi,

I'm a stay at home Mom to an awesome 3-year old boy in upstate NY.  I have a cool, talented husband who bought me a nook for Christmas last year when they first came out so I'm going 'old school' here to read a paper book!  ;-)   Reading the first pages made me a bit leary of reading something so unlike my usual tase in books, but the more I read the more I enjoyed the rich descriptions and character development.  Looking forward to seeing the rest of the story unfold and to discussing it with "y'all"

Felt -- glad you are here, "old school" and all!  Much as I read and as much as I once participated in the leading edge of user technologies, I am now on a more limited income and haven't indulged in a Nook yet.  (I need my 2004 PC with non-functional screen -- I use an external one now -- upgraded first.)

I think I understand what you mean about being leary of shifting one's usual taste in books.  I like to delude myself that I read to challenge my own preconceptions, but every once in awhile, I select something that reminds me how easy it is to not even recognize that there are indeed patterns to one's selections.  :smileysad:

Tell us a little bit about yourself here.

Hi! I am a forty- something pediatric nurse, army wife living in Florida raising two boys. I love to read. It is my escape. This is my first time joining in. I am not quite sure how this works. I will give it a go. I read the book. I loved the story. I let my reading buddy read it too. She is from Texas and she absolutely loved it. She said it was fabulous. I loved the characters and the real to life family dynamics. Sometimes I got lost in the descriptions to wordy. Maybe it was just me inpatient to move along in the story. It was a good summer read. Sometimes our families can hurt us the most. They are the ones we have to forgive the most. In forgiving we free ourselves.

Re: Hi I'm Bonnie

No sure how I missed this thread so far, I am glad to be doing a FL again.  I missed the e-book one.  My life has just gotten a bit busier.  After 6 years of being a stay at home mom to 4 I started working again this month three days a week.  I am still adjusting to all the new demands but I am glad to have a club I can belong to in the time I have free (usually kind of late at night!).
