Thank you for caring about Paul!
He developed into a much more important character than I had first imagined when I began writing this novel. I confess he actually brought me to tears.

Thank you for the pleasure of reading your book.
It was a hard read at the beginning and then towards the middle it became a book that was hard to put down. The end was so sad and it left me with mixed feelings. I felt Paul's death so deeply.

I think I would have enjoyed the book ( and ultimately would have participated in the discussion) if I had not had to read in on my iTouch. A 'real' book or a nook would have been better for me I think. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the story, and have posted my review:

I was so excited to be able to be a part of First Look for the first time, but very disappointed with 'The Writing Circle'. Normally I would love a book that tells a story about a group of people and all their personality quirks and life situations, but this one felt shallow. The characters did not draw me in and I felt the sex 'scenes' were completely unnecessary, only adding to the disjointed feel of the book. In the end there may have been some 'moral' of the story, but I wasn't quite sure if that was the author's intent or my need to find a point to the story.

This review was probably one of the hardest I had to write. I was so torn on what I thought of the book overall. I loved some of it, but at the same time I found it rather annoying and frustrating. The story follows a group of writers that get together to share their thoughts and their stories with each other. The story follows their lives as their lives quickly become intertwined on a variety of levels - from romance, to hate, to respect, to lasting friendship. The book is rather confusing at first. It was very difficult to follow the changing narrators at first, but as the story continues and you begin to know the characters, it becomes a wonderful way to tell the story. I think the part that threw me off the most was when people from outside the writing circle became narrators and also became very central to the story. There was almost too much going on to know where you were supposed to be. After thinking on the book for a few days, I literally could not get it off my mind, I decided that I enjoyed the book enough to be glad that I read it, but not enough to try and read another like it. 3.5

sadly, I was not able to download and read this book even though I had successfully signed up. At first, I was having issues downloading the reader and getting it to work (this was my first time using the ereader and ebook) and then my computer just completely died so that may have been why I was having issues to begin with. Either way, I think I'll stick with the non-eBook formats for now. Sorry I wasnt able to read & review this one B&N![]()

I felt the same way. It was difficult to follow, especially if you were putting it down for a few days and then having to pick it back up. I love my Nook, but it is harder to go back and review what you've read if you've forgotten what is going on and I found that I had difficulty remembering what was going on when I picked the book back up. I'm glad I read it. The end was surprising to me, as well as sad.

I am glad that I read this book and found the ending both surprising and sad. This is one selection where I think I would have pefered reading it as a book rather than an ebook. There were multiple times where I wanted to go back and review what I had previously read, but found it difficult to do on my Nook. This is the first time that I have felt that the Nook was not a good venue for authors.

I enjoyed this book even though parts were maddening. The frustration I felt with some characters was equal with those that I loved. Thanks BN for allowing me to take place in the first look book club

I recently received a Nook from my daughters and this was the first book I read using it. I must say I enjoyed the digital reading experience as well as this particular book!
I like the way the book was written in different points of view as this allowed me to gain different perspectives of what was going on and what the characters were feeling/thinking. Thank you for this opportunity. I have since then downloaded several other books to my Nook!
