Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, Everyone! My name is Donna and I have been involved with the First Look program since the beginning. This book will be a new adventure for me as I love books and dislike reading them on my computer (I don't own a Nook). But, I am willing to at least try it out and the book sounds great! My husband and I live in Western MA with our dog Oscar. Our sons and daughter-in-law live close by. I am an avid, ecclectic reader, an aspiring writer, and lover of all types of needle work. This should be fun! I look forward discussing this book with you!  =)

Hi, I'm Chris from Charlotte, NC and have a nook. I'm excited to be here and I have participated in the last 3 FL's.

I am Lisa in Georgia.  I love to read yet do not have a nook nor do I want a nook.  I love being able to feel a book in my hands and not having to worry about breaking it or it getting wet in the rain or at the pool.

I downloaded the free ebook reader here back when it was announced that the next First Look would be an ebook.  Now I am thoroughly confused as to what I need to do.  I have requested the book via sending the private message.  Now, I am concerned about where I need to go and what I need to do to set up an account with a credit card number.  There was no where to do that when I downloaded the free ereader to the PC.  Can anyone help me here?

Re: Welcome and Introductions

This will be fun - and my cats can't "lose" a digital copy on me!

(No joke, I managed to lose the ARC for The Poacher's Son....and then I found it UNDER the nightstand yesterday.  The only way for it to get there is to have some help from a furry, four-legged creature or two - but I promise to read it soon!)

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi I'm Debbie and like Donna have been involved with FL from the beginning and like Donna don't have an e-reader and don't like to view novels on screen. But for FL I'll do it.

The novel looks really good and I can't wait to reacquaint with old friends and meet new ones too.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi everyone:

I'm Barb and live in Central New York and have been enjoying the last six or seven First Looks.  I don't have a Nook or other type of e-reader either and will miss having a book in hand but am always willing to try new things.  Not sure how I'll feel about being tied to my laptop for this FL but sounds like a good read so will try it out.  I also am hoping that further instructions will be forthcoming for the download.

See you all soon!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi All,

I'm Sheila from central NJ and this will be my fifth FL book club.  I love doing the FL's and am curious to see how the digital one will work out.  I use my computer about 5 of the 7 hours that I am at work each day and now will have to read on the computer at night , plus get a more comfortable chair to sit on!  Hopefully for future FL book clubs we will go back to holding a book so I can take it with me wherever I go.  I look forward to starting the book and the discussions.

Hi Lisa,
If you go to "My Profile" at the top of the page (to the left of the envelope icon), there will be a link to Default Credit Card.  I just entered my credit card info so it does work.  Good luck.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi! I'm Margot and I'm in Northern California.

This will be my first experience with an ebook. I thought it would be a good chance to try out ebooks before I purchase an ereader.  I think I picked a good book to start with. The Writing Circle looks promising. I like the synopsis and the writer's background.

I'm anxious to get going. At least we don't have to worry about the UPS man finding us.

Nice to meet you all.

Hey All,

My Name is Leigh (like Lee only a little bit cooler) I am from IL and this is the first time I have done a First Look.  My Mom actually beat me to doing the First Look on the Poachers Son...so I am super excited about doing this for the first time.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi All,

I currently live in northern NJ.  I participated in several of the FL books and am looking forward to the eBook version.  I have all types of electronic forms - laptop, ipod touch, iphone and ipad.  I guess I will not have an excuse to not have the book with in arms reach!

I am curious to see how everyone will adapt to the electronic media.

See you in the discussion boards.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

[ Edited ]

Hi, I'm Beth from Wisconsin. I wasn't going to do this book. I love having a real book in my hands. This book looks too good to pass up though so I am going to give the eBook thing a try. I don't have a nook either so it will be a challenge. I didn't want to miss out on a good book and discussion with everyone. I have done quite a few First Looks and they can be quite addicting! Looking forward to this new experience and discussing The Writing Circle with everyone!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hey everyone,

My name is Dawn. I live in Tennessee with the love of my life (for almost 24 years!) and our "empty nest" puppy-a Cairn Terrier named Nola.  Our only son recently married and moved right outside of New Orleans...thus the "empty nest" and the reason for Nola. haha:smileywink:

I have been contemplating a Nook purchase for some time. It is such a major monetary investment, I want to be sure it is something that I will enjoy and be able to comfortably navigate. I have a feeling that this First Look will be the deciding factor.

I have been involved with most of the First Look selections and have enjoyed them all-even when I didn't necessarily like the book, (which wasn't often) the lively, intelligent discussions are always fun. I am always amazed by the insights of some of the participants.

Can't wait to download and get started!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi,

My name is Jeanette and I have participated in two previous First looks (Eternal Waters, The Poacher's son). I am a teacher for students with special needs, am married, have two children, and am currently getting certified to be a foster parent for an older student of mine that needs a home. I really enjoy reading these books and participating in the discussions. It is always interesting to read others' thoughts and often it changes the way that I interpreted something. I bought a Nook in January and love it. I have bought one for both my sisters and am hoping they enjoy it as much as I do. I am looking forward to discussions with everyone.

thanks,

Jeanette

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, I am Luanne from Minnesota. I have been in several First Looks. I have a nook so I am excited to try a First Look ARC with the nook. I received the nook as a gift for Christmas. I wasn't too sure about nook vs. real books. But I love the nook, it is so convenient and easy to read. My biggest decision now is to buy an eBook or a real book when a book comes out.
