Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hello everyone!

My name is Alex and this is my first FL book. I'm super excited. Any chance I get to read a new book on my nook is greatly appreciated.
I consider myself a bibliophile. I can't stop buying books even though I know I have way too many.

When I'm not reading, I attempt to teach 9th and 10th grade high school students how to enjoy reading, which is much harder than you would expect. lol.

I look forward to reading this book!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi! I am Emily from Baltimore. I have been participating for quite some time now with FL and have lost count on how many discussions I have participated in. I do not own a reading device, so I will be reading on my laptop. This will be a new experience and if I like reading a book electronically, maybe I will cave in and by a reading device. I just love ordering books and having a bookcase full of books, although I do listen to audiobooks on my iPod. It will definitely be interesting to see what everyone says about participating with an electronic copy of the book instead of a paper copy.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi! This is my third First Look book club, and I'm so looking forward to it.

I'm from Enfield, CT and absolutely love reading. I've recently taken to selecting books that are outside my preferred genre, and have been pleasantly surprised with many of them. I'm very excited about this new "digital" book club, because my husband got me a nook for Christmas and it's one of the best presents EVER! I love it and I've been reading much more lately (but then again, I usually go through fits and bursts when I'm reading).

I have one question for you, Paul -- I've read the intro and the announcement, but I did not see the nook listed as one of the devices for reading this book. Please tell me that I'll be able to read this selection on my nook.

Looking forward to reading The Writing Circle!

DiniB,

That's great! We just love Nola. Our vet tells us that she doesn't know she's a cairn terrier, so we haven't clued her in haha. She will be 2 this month and she has been so much fun and you are so right-we are definitely owned by her.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

My name is Shana and I live outside Washington DC.  Reading is my passion and I am looking forward to my first online book club.  I have participated with groups that have met a local B&N, but they have drifted apart.

I own a nook, but I have a couple bookshelves full of books.  I would never give up owning printed books, because they are my main art pieces around my place. I can't wait to chat with fellow book lovers.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi,

I'm Candie.  This will be my first book discussion with the B&N community.  I just bought a Nook this past weekend and am so excited to get better acquainted with it.

The nook will in no way replace the shelves beyond shelves I have filled with books, but I'm eager to learn this new technology and get to discuss a great book with all of you at the same time!

Hello!  My name is Nancy.  I am looking forward to being a part of this group, and also waiting with great anticipation to read this book.  I do have a nook, and I LOVE it!  Being the voracious reader that I am, it actually will save me money and pay for itself within six months...  Being part of a group for discussing what is being read is a bonus!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hello Everyone!

My name is Becky and this is my first FL book and my first (organized anyway) book club! I am excited because this is not my usual genre. I tend to lean more towards sci-fi/fantasy/historical fiction or linguistics textbooks.

I work at a university with the hope that someday I'll have saved up enough money that I'll be able to use my tuition benefits to get my graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology. But for now, I'm enjoying being out of school for a while.

I just bought a nook over the weekend so I'm still figuring out all the features.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, I'm Betty from Raleigh, NC...a retired high school English teacher. I have participated in most of the FL book clubs. I do like the feel of a book in my hand but have also tried reading books on my computer and listening to them on my iPod. I know we'll have a great time together discussing The Writing Circle. To those of you who are joining a FL for the first time, welcome. You are going to love the experience.

Hi, I'm Sheery.  I have participated in several of the First Look selections and enjoy the experience every time.  I don't have a Nook (I;m surprised I'm not in a minority here lol) but will read the book on my laptop.  I'm not sure if I'll actually enjoy reading that way.  I guess I'll find out.  :smileyhappy:

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Saw this on Facebook.  Have had my nook since February and I love it.  For those who don't have a nook and say they don't like reading from a computer screen let me tell you the experience is completely different.  I don't like to read a book sitting up on a computer screen either but the nook feels just like reading a book as far as my eyes are concerned.  I love finishing one book and being able to start another especially when I'm away from home.

If you haven't checked the nook out take a few minutes when you are in your local B&N to look it over.  I'm hooked now.

Hi Everyone!  I'm Freda and this is the 1st FL I've signed up for.  So I'm very excited, I'm a stay at home mom who is trying to go to graduate school so I think this will be perfect to get back into the swing of things.
