Hello everyone. I'm Amy and live in Michigan with my Hubby and our two dogs. This is my first FL book and I'm pretty excited. I've always wanted to be part of a book club. I will be reading this on my Nook, which I bought in March. I love it.

Hi! My name is Theresa and I'm from PA. I just got my Nook yesterday for my birthday, and am loving it. I'm really looking forward to joining in the discussion. The book choice looks wonderful.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I live in California. I've never participated in a book club so this is an exciting first for me. I am a full time college student in my 30's who is going to have the summer off so I'm really looking forward to the extra time I'll have for reading something other than a textbook.

My very good friend and I are book junkies and I was worried that I wouldn't like reading an ebook. But she got a Kindle and I really liked it so I went out and bought myself a Nook (which I personally like better for several reasons). I absolutely love my Nook! Not having the "feel" of a book in my hand hasn't been an issue - once I become engrossed in what I'm reading I wouldn't care if it was etched in stone a la Fred Flinstone.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi Everyone,

My name is Mike and I have been involved with Barnes & Noble First Look since the beginning.  I am an avid reader and enjoy many different genres.  First Look has opened up so many different ideas and thoughts for me and I enjoy looking at all the different new authors.

I live in Western Massachusetts with my darling wife Donna and our dog Oscar.  Although I would rather have a book in my hands, I am looking forward to trying something new with this selection.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hello Everyone!

I'm Debbie, I am a Texan that currently resides in Southern California with my 23 year old daughter and our Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix - think Chihuahua on stilts!  I love my nook and this will be my first FL and book club...  I live about 2 blocks from my local B&N...

For those using laptops and thinking that will give you an idea of what the nook is like, they are two very different animals, I can't use my laptop for reading but I adore the eInk screen on the nook.

If any of the new nook or computer readers run into to problems, please check out the following B&N community, you can find a lot of information and helpful people there.

Hi,

My name is Jeanette and I have participated in two previous First looks (Eternal Waters, The Poacher's son). I am a teacher for students with special needs, am married, have two children, and am currently getting certified to be a foster parent for an older student of mine that needs a home. I really enjoy reading these books and participating in the discussions. It is always interesting to read others' thoughts and often it changes the way that I interpreted something. I bought a Nook in January and love it. I have bought one for both my sisters and am hoping they enjoy it as much as I do. I am looking forward to discussions with everyone.

thanks,

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette!!!  I too teach special needs!  congrats on becoming a foster for one of your students.

I am Lisa in NC,  and have been a part of FL for over a year.  I wasn't going to join this one, because of it being digital- but it looks so good that I will go for it.  I haven't gotten a Nook, but have an iPod and Iphone, as well as my laptop, so I will have a few options.  If I find I like it, I will invest (more than likely in an iPad than a nook- sorry but that thing is awesome!)  My bookshelves are over-burdened as it is, so going digital would be a good thing I think.  But I LOVE my books....

Hi! I'm Katie from Charlottesville, where I'm a grad student studying 19th century American gothic literature. I'll be reading on my computer or my laptop as I have *cough* the other e-Book reader. This book looks really exciting though!

Re: Welcome and Introductions

HI Nancy,

You have to send a Private Message with the information Paul posted. Be sure that the name you are sending to is Writing-Circle because that is the temporary account set up to take registrations. I usually write down the information Paul says we need to put in the PM, then type it in. If you have sent it right, you will find a bolded message in your "Sent" box. It becomes unbolded when read.
