Hi Jennifer. Welcome to the First Look group! It's good to have you with us.

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I live in California. I've never participated in a book club so this is an exciting first for me. I am a full time college student in my 30's who is going to have the summer off so I'm really looking forward to the extra time I'll have for reading something other than a textbook.

My very good friend and I are book junkies and I was worried that I wouldn't like reading an ebook. But she got a Kindle and I really liked it so I went out and bought myself a Nook (which I personally like better for several reasons). I absolutely love my Nook! Not having the "feel" of a book in my hand hasn't been an issue - once I become engrossed in what I'm reading I wouldn't care if it was etched in stone a la Fred Flinstone.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi to all!  This is Kim in Texas, and I am new to the book club.  Looking forward to The Writing Circle and discussing it here!

I actually went to my local book club meeting today, where we discussed Snow Falling on Cedars.  Wonderful book and great discussion.  Glad to find this group and be a part of it, as well.

And I so love my Nook !!!!

Welcome! Facebook can be a great place to find information. I'm glad you found us.  :smileyhappy:

Saw this on Facebook.  Have had my nook since February and I love it.  For those who don't have a nook and say they don't like reading from a computer screen let me tell you the experience is completely different.  I don't like to read a book sitting up on a computer screen either but the nook feels just like reading a book as far as my eyes are concerned.  I love finishing one book and being able to start another especially when I'm away from home.

If you haven't checked the nook out take a few minutes when you are in your local B&N to look it over.  I'm hooked now.

Hi,

I'm Candie.  This will be my first book discussion with the B&N community.  I just bought a Nook this past weekend and am so excited to get better acquainted with it.

The nook will in no way replace the shelves beyond shelves I have filled with books, but I'm eager to learn this new technology and get to discuss a great book with all of you at the same time!

I consider myself a bibliophile. I can't stop buying books even though I know I have way too many.

When I'm not reading, I attempt to teach 9th and 10th grade high school students how to enjoy reading, which is much harder than you would expect. lol.

I look forward to reading this book!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Becky and this is my first FL book and my first (organized anyway) book club! I am excited because this is not my usual genre. I tend to lean more towards sci-fi/fantasy/historical fiction or linguistics textbooks.

I work at a university with the hope that someday I'll have saved up enough money that I'll be able to use my tuition benefits to get my graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology. But for now, I'm enjoying being out of school for a while.

I just bought a nook over the weekend so I'm still figuring out all the features.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi, my name is Kris and I am from northern NJ. I do not have an e-reader device so I will be glued to my laptop. This will be a new experience for me.  I have been intrigued by the Nook, but I am not completely sold on the idea.

The book looks really good, I can't wait to start downloading.:smileyvery-happy: and discussing

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Hi,

I'm from Minnesota and a full time worker so I guess I'll be reading at night on my laptop should be interesting. I don't have an e reader yet. It's on my wish list. Anyway, I would think this would be a more efficient way to get the "books" to everyone at the same time. Saves a few trees too! Looking forward to the discussion.
