Re: Question for Paul

I just posted this in the ocmmunity in Vixen, lol, but I'm trying to cover my bases.  If anyone can help I would appreciate it:

HELP!!!!!

The nook, that I borrowed from my friend (!!!), will not turn on or off.  Just the pic of her kids on the front.

Is there a RESET button or something???  Not place to remove the battery like I do when my phone freezes.

I'm in a slight panic - any ideas on what I can do?????

Thanks guys,

Becky in IN

Wow, I seriously hope we get badges! That sounds really cool! I'd love displaying one on my blog! <3

The badge is a small square with the book's title and First Look. They are fun to add to the blog to get others interested in getting the book. You can find one by looking at this link from the  discussion of "The Poacher's Son."

Things to try. Keep the power button pressed down for twenty seconds or so. this should turn the unit completely off. The restart and see if that works. If not you can remove the battery. You have to pop off the back cover and get a tiny screwdriver because there is a little screw that holds the battery in place. remove battery wait few seconds, replace, hopefully this helps if not call 1 800 the book. that is customer service for barnes and noble

Chris227 - - -> you have a 'pile of books yet to read'?  Wow - you are an enthusiastic reader.  I too have my weakness - mine is fabric

I received an advanced readers copy of The Distant Hours and it's next in my TBR pile (unfortunately that top book gets changed way too often as I get excited about or hear about another one!!)

How do people start receiving these ARC books? I would love to do that! I am a veracious reader. I have a book blog, am the founder of a bookclub and actively write reviews and participate in several forums and this (Three Seconds) is the first ARC I will have received.

How does one become more involved in that?

The same thing happens to me I get excited about a book or hear about a new one and my pile continues to grow. I think I have about 20-30 books to read currently in my pile. I'm hoping to at least finish my current book before the ARC arrives for Three Seconds

Morning folks!!!

Does anyone use "TAGS"   (these are listed on the right hand side of your screen from the discussion boards);  what do you use them for & are they helpful to find stuff?????

Tags are used to help you find a specific post again. You create an abbreviated name that works, like "nanowrimo," then "tag" any post relating to the topic that you want to find again. It is always better to make something that others may be able to use too, as we all look for similar things from time to time. Some of the tag listings are on the right of the screen, and can give you suggestions of other things to look at. Here is the link to the "Help" article on tagging.  :smileyhappy:

I've gotten ARCs through Shelf Awareness and Bostick Communications.  There are also a ton of giveaways on Goodreads and Librarything.

I always have a couple of books going at the same time. Depends on which room I'm in and when one gets more interesting than the other, I stick with that one and finish it and then go back to the others. So, reading Three Seconds and The Distant Hours at the same time will be no problem. If you stick with the reading schedule for Three Seconds there will be some downtime in between reading sections and I'll sure you will be able to read both!

Let me know how you like The Distant Hours!

Eadie,

I always have a couple of books going at a time too (my husband thinks I'm crazy!) but I still have trouble deciding which one to start when I finish one...I have so many I want to read I just don't know what to start next!

I am halfway through

The Distant Hours

It is sooooooo good! It's one of those books that you wish would never end.

I also finished Vixen on Saturday.

Vixen

I liked the ending very much and can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

I am also reading Infamous by Suzanne Brockmann

Infamous  .

I am going to the dentist today so I'll take Suzanne with me since it's a paperback but when I get home, I am going to finish The Distant Hours! Can't wait to get back to that book!

Someone above mentioned Goodreads, but I just wanted to add that that is also where I have gotten some from.  I did one previous First Look (The Wake of Forgiveness) and have won 2 ARCs in Goodreads giveaways in the last couple of months. And the great thing about Goodreads is that if you read them and write reviews, that gets taken into account and you're more likely to win more giveaways. I won my second book from there only like 2 weeks after reviewing the first book I had won. And there are TONS of giveaways, definitely something for everyone.

I found it to be a little hard to get to the first time I went looking (I couldn't find a link to the giveaway page on the main Goodreads pages), but you can just go straight to www.goodreads.com/giveaway if you have an account and start entering!

Oops, I clicked Post too soon.

Glad to hear that people on the East Coast are starting to receive their books.  Maybe today I will be on the brown truck's route in my northern Virginia neighborhood.
