How true. It may be time for a re-read of the book.

That's an interesting comparison.
To me, it had the feel of Cormac McCarthy's The Crossing -- lyrical realism that takes the wind out of you!

I'm about 100 pgs in to :
I loved Delaney's Ireland and while this one isn't as smooth I'm still enjoying the Irish voice.

I have to admit that I have not read The Grapes of Wrath but will now that you have mentioned it.

Good question! I know that many people love having back-to-back FL books, but I am glad to have the opportunity to finish a community reading challenge. It is run by our local library, and I am always amazed at the books I read. So, right now I am reading:
Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem
A brief History of Time by Stephen Hawkins
and working on The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck for the Classics group.
I will also be participating in the discussion of The Road by Cormac McCarthy later this month, but have already finished that book. There will probably be more, but that is the group for now. ![]()

Currently I'm reading The Story Sisters, when finished I hope to read East of the Sun. I don't know how you guys can stay focused enough to read more than one at a time. I am in awe.

I'm just about to immerse myself in this for my IRL book club. (This was my pick - does the theme seem at all familiar to anyone?)

I would suggest a wonderful reading from a delightful and talented writer from Brazil: Clarice Lispector.

I am reading this for the JULY new reads club. The author will be there too. No need to wait for August for a club! It starts Monday and so far it is a really good book.

Great idea to keep busy while we await FL's next selection of "Under This Unbroken Sky".
I am currently reading three books two of which are part of the local library Adult Summer Reading Challenge.
Last Man Out - The Story of The Springhill Mine Disaster, by Melissa Fay Greene.
Golfing With God - By Roland Merullo
Apocalypse Dawn - By Mel Odom.
